"Pete Carroll was so convinced that the Seattle Seahawks could have a successful 2022 season that during training camp, the longtime coach gave the team a presentation about the 50th anniversary of the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins and asked his players why they couldn't accomplish the same feat, sources told ESPN."

This guy... no one can say he doesn't have heart.

If you look at the roster and cannot figure out why we cannot be the 72 Dolphins, then nobody can help you.
Equating this defense with the Killer Bs is not fair to either the 72 Dolphins or our defense.

This is setting ridiculous goals that cannot be achieved, for no reason. Setting unachievable goals is ridiculous and counter-productive.

So was this for a purpose or just to create some kind of image? Because there was no rational reason to expect this is going to work out that way.

They do know who the players on the 72 Dolphins were, even on offense right? Would YOU pick the Seahawk roster over them?

The 72 dolphins were in the Super Bowl the year before not 7 and 9.

I couldn’t agree more with your sentiment but 72 dolphins were the no-name defense the killer bees were the late 70s early 80s defense.

You need your guys to believe in themselves, or you're going to be trampled. Come on.

You set lofty goals to get people to believe. But it has to be achievable. Set stretch goals if you have to.

But if you set impossible goals, then people tune you out.
I think Carroll is smart enough to know this. He knows we aren't going undefeated. The BEST team in the NFL won't go undefeated this year.
He should know we aren't going to the playoffs, but go ahead and set that goal.
Going undefeated like the 72 Dolphins or even going to the SB like them?
No happening. Setting a goal like that just gets people to tune you out.
I think Carroll knows this too.

So this is probably the coaching equivalent of Russell out there practicing taking snaps against invisible opponents for the TV cameras. It is probably less for the players, and more for the media to see so he looks like a great motivational coach. This is more likely a dog and pony show for the cameras, and not at all for the players. ('OMG Carroll believes so strongly in his team he thinks it can be undefeated like the 72 Fins!, or go to the SB like they did...')
It is a farce and a show to make him look good, just like Wilson did in his invisible game thing when he was out injured before a football game.

If he truly believed that, then his talent evaluation skills suck and it’s time to retire.
