I don't know much about NFL contracts.

Does this mean that after two years, we could cut/trade Bennett for no penalty to the cap since he is only guaranteed 16 mil?

How exactly does the per year figure factor into everything? Can it be whatever the GM wants it to be? Just as long as the player gets the guaranteed?

If so, what a move by Schneider. Get the production for the next few years and can free up cap space if we absolutely have to keep the core together.

It's too early to tell.

We haven't heard about a signing bonus yet. I'm sure there will be one. Whatever the amount, he'll get that money immediately and then the cap hit for the signing bonus is spread evening over the term of the contract.

We need more details to know anything more at this point.

We don't really know if he took a big discount. Any offer that Chicago gave him is from unverified sources and was likely inflated from the real number. Wouldn't surprise me if he took a little less, though.

I guess I will look to see what Brian McIntyre posts. He is dead on with the details of these contracts. So now they are talking about $28M vs $34M vs some other team besides the Bears that offered much more than the Seahawks. Will have to see what is happening when things slow down.

But if the latest numbers are true, those wishing for a "hometown discount" may have gotten through to that greedy joker (smile, j/k).

And bear in mind, "taking less money" to play in Seattle is only taking less money if it's less after the taxes they'd have to pay elsewhere. Hometown/Super Bowl shot discount or no, this is good, good news.
