Wow. This is really awesome. Krieg, Largent and Warner putting in big performances to come back and beat the heavily-favored Dolphins in Miami in the 1983 playoffs. Chuck Knox being carried off the field.

I just found this on youtube and it brought back so many memories. Figured some others might enjoy it. You get to see Largent doing some of his magic.

I've watched this 2 times already today.

Knox could still run back then, but you could tell his knees were already starting to bother him.

OMG!!! That brings back so many memories! Thanks for sharing that!

I remember that series where Krieg threw the pick. I'm a young man (not even legal to drink yet!!) going crazy watching this with my family and when the Dolphins scored late my Grandfather called me to comfort me and tell me how proud I should be that my Seahawks gave them such a battle. He was such a wonderful, thoughtfull man and just wanted to try and make me feel better. I remember telling him Thanks, but it's not over yet! He still tried to get me to come to grips with the fact that we played hard and well.

After the game he called back and was just as excited for me as I was for my Seahawks! He commended me for never giving up.
Didn't mean to get all personal but that exact series of events just brought lots of memories flooding back to me.

RIP Papa!!! I love and miss you dearly!!! :179417:

By the way, I have that game on VHS somewhere and I really want to get a copy of this game on disc somehow.
In fact, I'm gonna try to get all of our playoff games on discs. I'm sure there's a way to do that.

costco will transfer VHS to dvd, although I'm not sure if they will do it for a likely copyrighted broadcast.

or you could just buy a vhs-dvd recorder that will record tape to dvd

I've got most of the games on my HTPC. You can download many of them on ten yard torrents. Those games from the 1980's are available on some private torrent trackers. If you have them on VHS, it's as easy as getting a Happauge DVR card for your computer, run the S-video output (or antenna out) into the card and record. Pretty simple, and that's how I transferred most of my Beta/VHS collection including my Traci Lords porn collection.

God, how I groaned out loud when I learned that the Hawks had selected David Hughes with their 2nd round pick in the 1981 draft (#31 overall).

Factoid: There were four (4) Hall of Famers selected after Hughes that we missed out on... Mike Singletary (#38), Howie Long (#48), Rickey Jackson (#51) and Russ Grimm (#69).

What a wasted pick.

Geez, that recording looks ancient compared to today's game but I remember it like yesterday. The week before that on Christmas Eve I witnessed them beat the Broncos in the Kingdome, that was a great win. This one was better even if it was on TV, because we certainly were not supposed to win it. Ah memories.

I love the Joe Jackson "Steppin' Out" playing half way through the video.

Classic footage. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, all week long leading up to the game, people were laughing at the Seahawks because Miami's offense was just so good. Nobody took us seriously.

My family lived in Los Angeles at the time, and all the kids at school were Raiders fans, so all week long the kids at school were laughing at my Seahawk jersey, saying we'd get destroyed, etc.

I'll tell ya, it sure was awesome showing up at school on Monday in my Dave Krieg jersey and talking smack to all those Raiders fans at my school. But man, that next game was so painful. Ah, the joys of being an NFL fan.

That day was the first day my dad let me drink an entire beer. I was 16. He gave it to me when they recovered that fumble. My uncle just hated Krieg then though. When he threw that pick he was so pissed he got up and tripped over the "projection" ottoman that displayed on the screen. Caused major mayhem trying to get the game back on. That is how old that game is. Big screen meant projection TV.

Great memories!

Going old school consumer analog to digital isn't that simple. You most likely need a TBC (Time-Base Corrector) to get good results. Just FYI.

Though if anyone has it on VHS and needs it on digital, I've got the equipment to do it for ya.

Knox loved the run game but missed on a few. He hit gold with curt but also struck out on Owen Gill, another 2nd rounder.
Garbage I tell ya.

Wow that brought back some memories. I always loved Dave Krieg's story and Steve Largent's support of him. People were always down on Dave but he was a damn good QB. One of my favorite plays was when Largent caught his 100th TD and he gave Krieg props "I'm glad it was Dave that threw it."

Isn't it interesting how Seattle always seems to come up with Pro Bowl QBs out of nowhere?

Dang! I just watched it. First of all, thanks for the link, it was fun to watch. But after the kickoff following Warners go-ahead TD, and the forced fumble, they edited straight to carrying Chuck Knox off the field. Consequently, you missed seeing the field goal, the kickoff, and another fumble recovery on the ensuing kickoff. Miami never had another offensive play after falling behind.

The video showed the main storyline of the 4th quarter, it's just a shame it didn't show the finishing touch.
