44 yards in a half has to be a record.
.7 yards, thats not an average of a player, that was the total team rushing yards.

However A. Robinson is kicking butt, and his 2 sacks were pretty cool.

Lets see if they can turn this around.

Also any "Its preseason" comments will fall on def ears. These guys need to be better, even at this stage.

D Taylor was getting consistent pressure.

Ryan Neal was all over the place.
Cody Barton had two sacks.
Rasheem Green played well.
Jordyn Brooks played very well.

There were other good performances than just Ugo and Alton

The D line depth looks poor but other than that I'm not concerned

We lost a game to Nathan Peterman, guys. This guy was like 4th on the Raiders' roster right before they left Oakland and before the pandemic. No one knew where the hell this guy was.

Putting Geno out there and pulling him back for concussion? This ain't the playoffs, this is preseason. We already getting punished enough, why we inflicting more punishment on ourselves?

Russ has been out there 10 years and we have no relief if this is the year he tweaks something, like he did back in 2016. He's a lot older now.

And, from the looks of it, we have no plan.

I can agree with those name outside of Taylor. I watched him really close because I have huge hopes for him. Ultra slim size wise and just got stood up and stopped alot. He has been out of football for about 2 years, lets give him a few games.

For as long as Carroll has been here, he has tried to win preseason games.

In fact, the years we went to the SB we were destroying teams in preseason. So the whole 'preseason doesn't matter' argument does not hold water. Carroll plays to win these. Maybe with vanilla offenses and defenses but still.

And frankly, that was a lot of familiar names in Qtr 1 that looked like crap, but I'm used to seeing on Sundays.

So it wasn't just 3rd and 4th string nobodies that were the problem.

Anyway, total buzzkill.

I never care about winning these. What matters are 2 things:

1 - What we look like with the 1st string in.

2 - Players that stood out and looked great as potential new contributors for us

The results?

1. Pretty much nothing positive to say.

2 - Did anyone see anything worth talking about or even getting remotely optimistic about?

That was horrific. I feel bad for Wilson if that is the team he has to carry this year.

Yeah I'm willing to be patient with Taylor.
He got several pressures around the edge against their left tackle. He forced their QB to step up into the pocket a few times from what I saw. It just didn't show up in the stat sheet.

Fingers crossed they keep developing.

If we learned anything tonight it's that the Raiders have better depth than the Seahawks.
I wouldn't read too much more into tonight's game than that.

I thought Taylor was OK for basically a first game rookie. He beat his guy around the outside a few times for pressures. He flushed Peterman pretty well on one of Barton's sacks. I thought he set the edge pretty well and not much of that first half rush yardage was on his side IIRC. Agreed, give him some time.

Yes, we lost the game but, I'm enthusiastic about our defense and our young players. N. Evans looked good and even Scarlet did well.

Cheers

I didn't watch all of it, but Witherspoon didn't look that impressive.

Did he do anything?

He had a few tackles in a base vanilla defense

It looked to me like the team is experimenting more than in previous seasons. I'm not sure if this was due to the changes to the preseason or what, but it was definitely different than normal.

I tuned in during the 2nd quarter and thought Green looked really good.

I'd keep him.
Keep Neal and Blair. Trade Adams and his $20M APY.

Taylor looked explosive. If he and Robinson step up, look out!

OL got worked over and the run defense was defenseless . I don't see much depth going forward , but it's early .

Alton Robinson needs to be on the field in obvious pass situation even last year i thought he looked amazing getting after the passer. Greene also looked the part as he should against backups.
