49ers place QB Colin Kaepernick on IR

There are reports out that a couple teams contacted San Fran about trading for Kaepernick before the deadline but none of them could afford his salary this season. It appears the Niners will try again to trade him after the season is over.

His contract is big. Doubt he gets traded. Niners lose in this game. They will be forced to cut him IF IF IF he passes the physical.

Not that big for a starter, real big for a back up. Texans sound like a spot to land for that money, although if this is smoke and mirrors by the 49ers to manipulate things he could fail the physical they cut him another team picks him up and they get a comp pick maybe.

You don't get comp picks for released players and right now he won't be looked at as a starter. Even if the thought is to give him some starter reps he still is a major gamble to be able to earn that contract and if he is injured you are now on the hook for his contract just like the 9ers might be now.
