Reposted from the 18th post on Page 1 for better audience:

As for the OP, this was a discussion at fieldgulls and I refered to it in the "Were the Texans our Jaguars thread"...

Unfortunately can't copy and paste the thread so I'll simply paraphrase. Note: I DO NOT TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR THIS WORK (other than converting the averages and some thoughts).

Poster, Heywood Jablomee, sample sizes the Seahawks last 4 games in 10 a.m. starts:

WASH, ATL, CAR, and HOU

1st Half: Seahawks 19 (4.75 avg) / Opponents 61(15.25 avg) 2nd Half: Seahawks 68 (17)/ Opponents 10 (2.5)

The poster later does the other 3 WC teams:

SFO 1: SF 34 (8.5) /OPP 41 (10.25) 2. SF 54(13.5) /OPP 23 (5.75)

SD 1: SD 46 (11.5)/ OPP 37 (9.25) 2: SD 65 (16.25) / OPP 54 (13.5)

1: OAK 20 / 79 2: OAK 33/ 48

NOTES: Seahawks have the worst of the flip-flop numbers. All of SF games were from last year bc they played SEA on SNF and STL on TNF this season. SD is the only team that allowed less points in the first half than in the 2nd. But it could be the strength of their defense and/or their opponent. SEA and SF owned two of the best, if not the best defenses (at least that was the case for SF in 2012 when again their last four 10 am games took place) as well as were or still are among the best teams in the NFL. So its the difference between the SEA and SF splits that were shocking more so than the difference between the SD and OAK splits. All teams scored more points in 2nd half than they did the first.

Another poster did further analysis with the theory that biological clocks are tuned to sunlight aka sunrise. And why it could explain SDs splits more and corelate the Seahawks struggles.

He took sunrise times from Sept 29th (Fall): SD 641 Pacific Time SF/OAK 703 SEA 705 DEN 6:54 RMT

Then for DEC 21 (Winter) SD: 650 SF: 724 SEA: 757 DEN: 720 RMT

Take in the info however you like but evidence suggests, sample size or not, the 10 am handicap has truth to it and its a real thing. Not just an easy excuse.

West Coast Teams in their last 16 games of 10 am Starts: 1 Half: WC teams 119/ OPP 218 2 Half: WC teams 220/ OPP 135
