NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that the Bears are exploring a potential trade of the talented wide receiver, according to a source informed of the team's plans.

It's unclear if the Bears plan to release Marshall if they are unable to move him in a trade. A key date is March 12, when Marshall's 2015 base salary of $7.5 million becomes guaranteed

Can you post it? Just saying you saw it on twitter doesn't mean much.

The #Bears have traded WR Brandon Marshall to the #Chargers for a late round draft selection. New weapon for Philip Rivers.

Yeah, RapSheeL is as reliable as Adarnshefter.

That's for sure

I've been following Rapoport for awhile and he mentioned the fake account earlier today.

Most media and athletes get their accounts verified. If you don't see the little blue check mark people, get more verification.

I would be more than happy to trade away a mid round pick for Brandon Marshall.

Does anyone know what his contract would look like with us?

I'll speculate a 5th rounder, 2 years, $13m, $7m guaranteed.

People really need to stop posting fake tweets as if they are legit. I don't get it. Among the last things I'd do is let people on the internet know that I get duped very easily.

Their need to be first overwhelms good sense sometimes.

His current deal, if we were to trade for him and just keep his contract is basically 3 years $24.3 million.

2015 - $7.5 million + $200k bonus

2016 - $7.9 million + $200k bonus

2017 - $8.3 million + $200 k bonus

An interesting point according to spotrac is that on March 1 his 2015 contract became guaranteed. That will make cutting him difficult on the Bears....this is why they will want to trade him.

If we were to try to restructure, he wouldn't want to give up the guaranteed money, so we'd have to likely sign him to something that guarantees at least the same if not a little more. I'd say maybe 3 years with a first year deal of $1.5 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of between 6 and 7 million. Then we can structure the salaries over the next two years to something that John feels fits into our plan.
