It’s somehow fitting that if Bill had to go, it happened right after the end of the PAC. He was a great ambassador for the Conference of Champions.

RIP.

I loved Walton, hyperbole and all. A true character. He's in the discussion for the greatest college basketball player of all time. It's too bad his injuries curtailed what could have been a stellar NBA career. One of the only seasons he was relatively healthy and in his prime he led Portland to the NBA championship. One of my all time favorite basketball players.

I remember Walton talking about the time he got arrested because he was laying down in the middle of Wilshire Blvd. in downtown LA as part of an anti-war protest. His coach, John Wooden, bailed him out of jail, and as he was driving him home, Wooden said to him, and I'm paraphrasing..."Bill, suppose your mother had a heart attack and the ambulance couldn't get to her because you were holding up traffic and she died. How would you feel?" Walton said that he was stunned, that he never thought of that consequence.

Walton was one of the most dominating players in CBK and most likely would have been one of the top 10 players in the history of the NBA had he remained healthy.

RIP.

Big Red... enuf said.

He wasn't Kareem... but nobody else was in that era.

He was a good dude, a political activist and a helluva good basketball player.

I'm 75, and it's kind of tough watching your sports, movies, TV favorites, and other public figures you admire/respect pass away before your eyes.

He spoke at a sales kickoff for a company I was at. He was certainly a character.
