Nfl expanding ps for international players

I thought this was already in place and that the Rams had Max Pircher from Italy as an extra on the PS in 2022. Maybe it wasn't available to every team. Not sure.

To date I don't think the IPPP has produced a single game day appearance. It would help if such players didn't count towards the salary cap until they were on the 53-man active roster or were added to the game day roster through the SEA temporary promotion rule. $170K per player per year doesn't sound like a lot of money in the overall scheme of things, but it hasn't been cost effective. Exempting the PS pay structure to lower IPPP pay is probably the only way to get more NFL teams interested.

I believe it was a pilot program only for select teams. Seattle had a guy a couple of years ago. Never got elevated, though.

The first thing I thought when I saw the thread title was "what was the rule the Seahawks used to keep Aaron Donkor without using a normal spot on the 53 or the practice squad?"

An article in The Athletic from about the time of the Seahawks' game in Germany last year says

Seattle in 2021 and 2022 received a roster exemption for Donkor, allowing him to be on the practice squad during the regular season without counting against the 16-person limit.
