...the Pac-12 North Champion is guaranteed to come from the state of Washington, as both teams could finish no worse than 6-3 in conference, which is the best any other north team can do, and either the Huskies or Cougars are guaranteed to finish with at least 7 conference wins by virtue of the Apple Cup in that scenario.

RISE OF THE EVERGREEN STATE

With wins this weekend, Washington or Washington State is guaranteed to capture the Pac-12 North title that has gone to Stanford (2015, 2013-12) or Oregon (2014 and 2011).

UW and WSU are a combined 10-0 in the Pac-12 and on pace toward an epic Apple Cup. The last time both were 5-0 in the conference was 1997.

No team has gone undefeated in conference play since the Pac-12 expanded in 2011.

Cal has 3 conference losses as well, and both UW and WSU left on the schedule. If Cal wins out, they'd have tie breakers the rest of the way.

Not quite. The Pac 12 North champion will come from Washington, however, both teams will still need to be within a game of each other in the Pac 12 standings for the game to mean anything. In other words, both teams need to win at least 1 more game before the Apple Cup to make it a winner-take-all scenario. If one team wins the next 2 weeks while the other team loses, the game will only be worth bragging rights and a better bowl game.
