I'm excited for that move at well.

Really curious who will be our opening day starting linebacker in that spot.

Any chance Bradford will be our 3rd LB with KJ and Wagner?

Dare I say it... but Bruce looked much better doing that than Von Miller did this preseason so far. And John Elway said Von was the best football player he has ever seen. Maybe the steroids/hgh/whatever else he is taking helped. I saw Shawn Merriman have a similar start and subsequent flameout. I'm 99% sure Bruce is playing 100% clean right now and he looks like he has Sherman like talent oozing out of him, and can be used in the exact way he should be.

Remember how LeRoy was used his rookie year? He was sort of disguised and then blitzing repeatedly and generated a TON of pressure. I hope to see the same from Bruce. I think he'll be a screamin' demon this season. He looked to be losing weight and tiring at the end of last year (hard to keep the weight on his frame). This way he'll be hitting his peak at playoff time. So just trying to see the bright in this bad situation. Maybe a silver lining?

Schofield looked really interesting tonight. He's played LB, and was lined up at end. But maybe they are just getting him work at rushing in, and will move him around in the Bruce position? I think with Wagner and KJ then the other guy will do well. I think they can kind of hide somebody there the first few weeks, and then production will pick up once 51 comes back.

Damn if he didn't look good on that tackle for a loss tonight. Great stuff. I hope that's just a teaser of what's to come. We might have some issues with Irvin but speed definitely isn't one of them.

Holy crap, that run fill was simply sick. If he can keep that up, we're so freakin set at LB it's not even funny. Imagine a Wagner, Wright, and Irvin full time LB corps. It has potential to be as good or better than SF's.

Agreed on Leroy. Hell, Leroy was good last year in blitzes (when it was rarely dialed up).

I think Bruce was/is Pete's final Clay Mathews piece to his ideal defense. Bruce was drafted to be a pass-rushing linebacker, purely. He was only on the field last year because he was the best option at end.

I agree. I see the method to his madness there. Irvin could thrive at that position.

If he's even halfway decent in coverage, I wouldn't mind seeing him there full time. His ability to burst into the backfield is superstar quality. One thing for sure, you have to find way to put his athleticism on the field.

I agree totally. Let the kid get used to NFL speed and understand the defense before you throw him in at LB where you have more assignments than contain outside and run like heck at the QB. Now he will do that stuff, and a bit more. Build it. Pete understands building linebackers and so does Norton. They saw one and drafted one, and 'redshirted' him last year for the long term benefit of the player and the team. Smart move. I would enjoy seeing Bruce sitting up in the box for a couple of the games with a headset on and getting a feel from above where he's supposed to move. Pete having job security let him do this. Both the draft pick and grooming for LB. Brilliant job all around if it works as expected, and thank you Paul Allen for giving your coach some slack to build something.

Potentially really bright future, and dude looks really thick now too. If he can keep on the mass he gained over the offseason without failing another PED test it could definitely be worth the 4 game sacrifice.

Well, he's better in space than heads up on an OT, and he played FS in high school at a high level, so there's no reason those skill sets shouldn't translate to LB. We've seen flashes, let's see if he can put it together.

I hope he is clean but don't bash miller in the same thread. When were upset about Bruce being suspended for the same thing.

Sydney Rice, Cliff Avril, Bruce Irvin, Zach Miller, Percy Harvin, James Carpenter, Chris Clemmons, Michael Robinson.

We have been watching a shadow of what the team really is. There will always be a few good players out to injury, but in the preseason, many are held out for precautionary measures.

The real team will be evident in the regular season.

:sarcasm_on: Too bad Bruce looked like all he can do is be a situational pass rusher... He definitely showed he can't be an every down player last night! :sarcasm_off:

I thought about overnight, and, yup I'm still pissed I have to wait until game 5 to see Bruce. From what little I saw last night, IMO, Bruce becomes a STAR this year. From a standup/spinner/Mathews role he'll be frickin fun to watch.
