First MNF doubleheader, week 1, Monday September 12th 2016. Steelers beat Washington 38-16, 49ers beat Rams, 28-0.

Don't trust Google's AI search result bullcrap.
So was that a one off thing or has it actually been a thing every season.

There’s multiple sources that say the deal was finalized in 21 and implemented for the 22 season.

2021 is the only season they haven't done it at least once since 2016.

Edit: and you know what? I was wrong. It actually has happened every year since 2006, ever since ESPN has had MNF: https://www.nfl.com/schedules/2006/REG1/

Sux. I never watch MNF any more unless our Seahawks are on. 🤷‍♂️

I’m pretty sure that they have had MNF double headers since 2016 on opening weekend but to have them on other than opening weekend is more recent (1-2 years).
