Man, that was bad. Also, Eskridge didn't even try to fight for the ball then acted stunned when it was picked. Weird.

Eskridge did zero help with casually running that route on the break and not coming back to the back.

Gah so frustrating. A poor pass under pressure from the blitz, intercepted. 2 minutes later a gorgeous pass for a well deserved TD.

Other than a few plays by Tyler, we didn’t play our best WRs though, or our starting RBs due to injury/illness. Drops have killed Geno this preseason. Three more today.

Lock just blew ANY chance he had of being the week 1 starter. Pete will take three and outs with Geno all day long over the roller coaster ride that is Drew Lock. Geno's "play not to lose" approach worked perfectly.

And a game-losing fumble that was almost certainly mostly his fault...
The fumble credited to him...he didn't run over and block the guy who blasted him in the back? He was in the process of throwing his hot read when he got hit. I do not see how getting hit by an unblocked rusher can possibly be all on him. I do fault him for immediately turning to his right without keeping an out on the entire LOS but it wasn't up to him to allow a rusher to be unaccounted for.

Roller coaster is the perfect description for what Lock's play has been. Some amazing throws, stepping calm into the pocket and sending a laser into a tight window... followed almost immediately by staring down his receiver or throwing the ball into double coverage because he never made his second read.

I feel like Lock absolutely does bring more possibilities for the offense when he's hitting versus Geno but the lapses in judgment can be so damaging to the team and the whiplash from his highs to his lows are crazy.

An unblocked rusher coming through is usually an indication that proper adjustments weren't made at the line. Pete indicated it was likely on Lock, and Lock himself took blame (could've just been QB speak)

But our HC, OC, and position coaches are watching, will watch over and over again. They will factor in starting WRs on plays wasted by our WR3-6. In my opinion John is on the phone with bunch of veteran WRs on their availabilities.

First drive of second half, Lock has had little in the way of exciting and/or precision throws but led the team to a TD by making calm decisions.

I mean, his problems are all mental, not physical. He can make all the throws, he's not afraid of a busy pocket, he's gifted in terms of athleticism for the QB position... it's decision making and comfort with the offense.

I honestly feel like he was handicapped by how much Pete and the offense rooted for Geno because the lack of reps and time with the first team offense can play a role in this. (Also, his stats in the preseason have been seriously tanked by the WRs he's been playing with dropping a lot of his passes). But that's something that has to count in Geno's favor that the coach and his teammates want to play with him.

Stats are almost meaningless, they will dissect his decision making and talent individually.
