Are the 49ers still the big bullies on the block?

Nah, they float in mid-air, just ask people :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Still the best team in the NFC, IF they stay healthy. But, the gap is closing quickly.
I'm a homer and proud of it. But I wouldn't predict any team other than the Niners to take the division. And yes, that hurt to say. A lot.

I haven't watched the video but did he use the term 'big bullies'? I think the Rams and Seahawks will be competitive with them this year so I wouldn't say "bully". But I don't think anything significant has changed for them over the offseason, and they ran away with the division last year. They have to be the favorites until someone beats them IMO.

Yes. And until someone decleats them, they will continue to be. I think it'll be us who does it, but we're another draft, or two, away.

Like it or not they are the top of the pile in the NFC west till someone knocks them off, that is getting more conceivable however, with escalating player contracts of those they keep and the necessary release of others, aging and injuries, the lack of off season rest catching up to them also. We know all to well.

If Trent Williams decides to keep holding out/retire they are in big trouble. I can't see Purdy doing as well without him.

McCaffrey is probably also due some sort of regression/injury. Lots of wear and tear the last couple of years.

Purdy has been extremely lucky to stay as healthy as he has, but it’s a Shanahan team. History hasn’t been kind to his QBs. Maybe he has learned his lesson, though.

If Purdy stays healthy, they probably remain the bullies.

Having to need Tommy John surgery isn't my idea of being lucky health wise other than lucky it wasn't career ending.

They're prime for a fall. Like others have said, they've got a lot of money wrapped up in a handful of players who are older and a little more vulnerable to injury. Also, I'm not sold on Purdy yet. I'm not sure he can carry a team if need be yet.

But even if they fall off a bit, they're still in the driver's seat for the division title and another trip to the conference finals until proven otherwise. Their days are getting numbered though. I mean, do they pay Purdy the massive contract? If they do, it will mean a big changing of the guard.

Agreed . He stays in that game and they would have beat them. They proved that in Philly last year

That’s exactly what I meant when I said lucky to stay “as healthy as he has.” He’s lucky that it didn’t significantly affect his career. He’s lucky that he was able to get back on the field by the next season.

One could argue that the injury itself was bad luck. It was, but I would argue that history suggests that injuries plague Shanahan’s QBs.

It’s not clear who the Eagles were when they played in 2023. Certainly they weren’t the same end-of-season team from the year before.

I do agree the Niners likely would have won the NFCCG with a healthy Purdy. I just don’t think we can say they proved it by winning in 2023.

I think the 49ers have become alot like the Colts when Peyton Manning was there; juggernaut regular season team that can't quite close the deal in the postseason/superbowl. Only this time it's because the head coach fails to elevate his game in the spotlight instead of the quarterback.
