Anybody watch UW's spring game? Challengers to K. Price?

I meant to watch it the other day but ended up getting busy.

Two questions:

Does Keith Price still have a firm grip on the starting job? I heard that Troy Williams looked pretty good, but I would expect him to probably redshirt? How did Cyler Miles look? I really liked him during the recruiting process.

Also, what do you expect UW's offense to look like this year? Last year towards the end of the season they almost looked like Oregon, playing a lot of spread and running out of the shot gun formation. I've heard that this spring Sark has been tinkering with a faster paced offense as well. Are they turning into Oregon North? Or will they still play more traditional pro style sets?

The "game" was kind of odd. In an effort to not really show too much about the changes that are being made to the offense, they really didn't play a game at all. Just ran through some scenarios over and over.

Keith Price is going to start, but he did not look good, Miles did, and hopefully Sark won't hesitate to make that switch. Williams was ok, Lindquist, who I think could be a Pac12 caliber QB, may want to start looking at other positions if he's going to stay.

The expectation is that yes, they're going to try to run some form of the Oregon hurry up offense. The problem will be (and I'm not sure casual Oregon watchers grasp this) is that while the skill position guys are great, it's actually the offensive line play that makes that offense work, and the UW line is still the biggest question mark.

The UW defense will be better, and their schedule isn't a killer, so Holiday Bowl isn't out of the question. The Rose seems highly unlikely unless Price becomes a completely different player by the fall.

If they want to be an option offense, they should probably give Price the boot. He's most comfortable in a pro-style setting, and he's nowhere near durable enough to have 10+ QB keepers a game.

Going forward, Cyler Miles is the guy in my opinion. I could see Jeff Lindquist transferring.

I don't know what the hell happened to Price. Two years ago his future was bright. Now his
confidence seems to be shot. Sark will not hesitate to replace him. Being nice to Keith is
not his first consideration.

They're not so much copying the Oregon option offense, it's more copying the hurry-up no huddle approach. It remains to be seen how effective that is when you're not getting positive yardage on every play.

Last year they almost completely switched to the read option, and Price rarely looked comfortable in it. Bishop Sankey took off like a rocket, though.

Huh, on the radio yesterday Warren Moon said that Price is clearly the starter and that he believes that it would take a number of very, very bad performances in a row for Sark to replace him.

He also specifically mentioned that Price is a very confident QB.

I think the pass rush is definatly in Price's head. I remember last year in the Ducks game there were several times where he panicked and overreacted to pass rush that wasnt even there. Once thats in your head and your aware of the pass rush, its awfully hard to forget about it (think David Carr in the NFL).

Wasn't last year enough?

I've heard a few interviews from Sark here and there on the radio and it sounded to me like they really want someone else to step up. Maybe I was reading into it too much.

I agree, I was very surprised to hear Warren Moon say that Price is a very confident QB, because that's not what I saw last year.

I was also very surprised (and disappointed) to hear him say that Price is clearly the starter. He made it sound like the QB competition (if there even is one) isn't even close.

Honestly, I'm still a little shocked at how a guy goes from being as good as he was 2 years ago to as bad as he was last year. I mean, that drop off was drastic.
