Do you want Geno next season?

Just say no to Geno. I don't think that's a hot take by me, I've said it all season. :)

    Wagz

Wagner should have been gone at least a year earlier. While the locker room presence and the many years of quality play was all amazing, he was getting beaten on the regular the last couple years he was with us. On top of that, he had hardly any TFL's, sacks, FF's, or an other impact plays...

    Extend Geno Smith.

This is a good way to look at this. Regardless of how bad the defense is, Geno Smith has not played well, and it's getting worse each game. Do not re-sign. No expectation that he'll grow with another year in the system.

Hiking the ball at 1 again.

Geno Smith, situational football IQ. That's it.

    Extend Geno Smith.

I don't state an assertion that we are losing because of him directly. But we aren't winning because we have him. He's an average QB. In the spirit of this thread, my suggestion would be absolutely not to re-sign him. Not even a moments consideration. Let him walk.

    Extend Geno Smith.

Not really, no. His situational football the past several games is absolutely terrible. He's proving to be exactly what his record indicates throughout his entire career.

    Extend Geno Smith.

Does everyone finally agree that Geno is at best a .500 QB? I have to think the sympathizers or apologists have run out of excuses by now.

    Franchise Geno

As ordinary as Geno Smith is, this would not be a terrible idea if the math worked out. I absolutely don't want him on a multi year deal. The fact remains, he is not a difference maker and I would be a fan of letting him walk if he didn't take a cap friendly deal.

Admit it, Geno played like crap

I don't think there's any secret in this forum about how I feel about the guy. Don't extend. He's not starting caliber. .500 QB at best. Avg QB at best. But as we can all plainly see how, he does not have the ability to make a real difference in games. It's ok to expect more from your Starting...

Geno Smith was due for a game like this.

I guess the record and performance remains accurately assessed. Can the Geno love turn to healthy skepticism at this point?

Geno Smith was due for a game like this.

Very true with respect to overall stats. But lets be real here - games are won and lost based on situations throughout the game. You can score a ton and give up a ton and still win games. You should be ok with expecting your starting QB to win more of those situations than he loses. Remember, my...

Geno Smith was due for a game like this.

If that's your take, you get to join the homer-glasses crew. 🤣

Geno Smith was due for a game like this.

Look man. He's been there with the game on the line and failed more than succeeded. One GW gotta have it drive. Today was a pretty sad performance. But yet again, on critical drives, made terrible throws and decisions. That's what .500 QBs do. Look at the record! The defense has very little to...

Geno Smith was due for a game like this.

Strong argument. Sheesh. I could go on and on but it seems wasted as those critical of my comments are homers, but there's plenty on here who agree.

Geno Smith was due for a game like this.

Maybe. But that's the same criticism I took before when I said correctly. One can't run from their record. One GW drive in 9 career attempts. These are just hard, fundamental facts. Has he been statistically excellent at times? Has he had some incredible throws? Yes to both. But I like my QBs to...

Geno Smith was due for a game like this.

Can anyone recall my assertion when he struggled in big moments earlier in the year? He's been a media darling, Cinderella story, feel good story. But... As I said all along, and holding true: Smith is a .500 QB. Maybe without Smith we are 1-2 wins fewer, maybe 1-2 wins more. Don't extend this...

That little win streak really warped peoples mind about this team.

This game was a lesson in sports psychology that most people don't consider. Usually when a team gets off to a ridiculous fast start like we did, the team's intensity is a hair less, which allows inferior teams to recover. Good teams can bounce back, we are not quite a good team yet, but we...

    Geno wasn’t clutch

The assertion by the OP is 100% correct. It goes back to what I was saying before - I even questioned my own conviction about Geno Smith after he won some games with really nice play - even came back here and apologized for not budging off my original assessment. I'll go back to my original...

After the INT TD, Geno did "pretty good"

I definitely owe a few apologies in this forum for doubting Geno Smith. That pick 6 was pretty awful but the bounce-back was pretty great. Not only has Geno gotten better and better this season, but the O-line and defense have improved dramatically, accentuating his growth. Early this season...

    GENO and our Hawks

Really good post. I'm right there with you. Objectively you hit on a few really great points and shows really good thinking. I would love Geno to be a top 10 QB for sure. Maybe within the framework of the offense he can maintain the pace, who knows? I think the thing most in this forum is...
