    DeBoer likely going to Bama

.....and I'd like to introduce the next Husky head coach.......................PETE CARROLL!

    DeBoer likely going to Bama

It takes generations and generations to get to the level of the top programs in the country fender, and Bama is probably THE most coveted program with the deepest pockets, deepest roots for recruiting and biggest brand in the country. UW can't compete with that, in any facet. Salary included...

    DeBoer likely going to Bama

Damn man, other than SB 49 I can't remember going from the highest sports high, to the lowest sports low. Sick for Husky fans this past week.

    Does Defense still win championships?

If you want to drill down on this statement, it was really more about superior line play. Another Hawk evergreen deficiency, on both sides of the ball. I don't care if it's 1945 or 2025, great D and O lines win. Period.

    Does Defense still win championships?

I would also put failure to establish an identity. All great teams have an identity. High flying offense, punishing physical defense, dynamic pound the rock, etc. Pete couldn't get back to anything that remotely resembled a cohesive identity, at least not one he could draft, aquire players...

    Things I Think I Think

All good things come to an end, this is especially true in sports. I wish Pete could fix the defense. I wish Pete could figure out a more dynamic way of playing offense. I wish Pete could have fixed his messaging that wasn't getting through to some of his players. I wish Pete could have...

    Does Defense still win championships?

That's how the league's worked throughout it's history. Innovative offenses, followed by a period of smart coaches and coordinators figuring out how to stop said new flavor of the month offenses. If you're pinpointing just one thing that led to Pete's demise, that's it. He lost his ability as...

    Is Geno Done?

We discussed this before the Pete firing. Geno ended the 2023 season graded by PFF as the #12 or #13 rated QB in the league. So these salaries fall pretty close in line with how that slots with the starting QB salaries. But IMO none of this matters. What matters is who the new coach is, and...

Why did you fire Pete if you're just gonna bring in a bunch of lesser Petes?

I predict JS will make a bold choice for HC

I'm nowhere near deep enough into the coordinator scene to know who's a viable candidate, but I do agree that it'll be a bold move. JS's been waiting for this opportunity his entire tenure in Seattle, and he's not going to land on Quinn or another safe hire. Nothing's wrong with Quinn, but...

Last Night's Celebration of Pete (Pictures)

Oh yeah, no hard feelings. It was great to see Russ there with all the old SB players......and I know Pete harbors no ill will towards Russ. We will love Russ once again, how can we not? Dude's the greatest QB in franchise history and was instrumental in helping us win our 1st SB. Time will...

    Props to Jody

I certainly owe Jody an apology, I didn't think she'd have the stomach to fire Pete. And I have no idea if the team will be better, but for the 1st time in a very LONG time it's exciting to see what JS and whoever the new coach is do.

Who do you want as the HC?

Any other franchise and I'd agree with you. Nothing against Harbaugh, he's obviously a great coach. But I just think because of the history of him coaching in SF, then coming here? I think the fans and media would give him the shortest rope ever. One bad year and we'd all be screaming for his...

Is JS up for this ?

"There's this kid out of McNeese State that's only played six football games, but he's a great forward on their basketball team. Let's convert him to a tackle!"

Last Night's Celebration of Pete (Pictures)

The cynic in me says a large reason of why Russ showed up was to do some PR damage control for the monumental hit his image took last year. I'm sure part of him is being genuine, but IMO he also saw last night as a good opportunity to get some warm and fuzzy pics of him and Pete on social media.

    Whats next?

Pete had his press conference yesterday afternoon. https://www.seahawks.com/video/ As far as next steps, as I said in another thread Schneider's probably already been vetting new coaching hires. So I wouldn't doubt we have a new coach within a month. Or maybe sooner.

Is JS up for this ?

Absolutely. In fact I think John's been actively vetting coaching candidates for months. A successfully run company and/or organization doesn't knee jerk a monumental decision like firing your most successful coach in franchise history. So I'd bet a lot of money that Jody told John months ago...

    Another negative Pete Carroll thread

Pete is very much in the Walsh philosophy of keeping his coaching hires promoting from within. Which is not unique to Pete, most long tenured successful coaches do this. Belichick, Old Shanahan, Andy Reid, etc. Most hired and promoted from within. It's a way to keep philosophical and scheme...

    Which Nix Would You Want?

Nix is the safer pick, but IMO Penix has the bigger upside. If Pete-ball stays, then Nix is probably the better pick because he's more durable, run Pete's boring offense and run around making some plays. Penix's upside would be wasted in Seattle, he needs to go somewhere with a more dynamic...

    When?

Yep. We all have Pete word salad fatigue. Honestly, if Pete comes back who cares. As much as we all love our Hawks, until there's an ownership and/or coaching change this team will never again be more than a fringe 6th seed WC team.
