    Cornerbacks. A great positive

There were a couple of notable blown coverages and Earl played his worst game as a Hawk, but I generally agree that Lane, Shead, and Kam all looked awesome. It is a big relief seeing Kam look like Kam again. It's been a while. Lane had what felt like a breakout game, and Shead made a play or...

    TAKE THE POINTS

I think it was the right decision and the wrong playcall. We should be able to trust our interior and Christine Michael to pick up 2 inches on 4th down. It's also worth considering that Hauschka missed an extra point later in the game due to a protection breakdown by Sowell. Not to mention...

All successful teams get some luck...

I thought the luck was fairly even. Seattle had drops too, and the refs had some pretty questionable calls that really hurt the Seahawks.

The Film Room: Seahawks run tackle-end stunt

I hadn't realized that Clark played such a pivotal role in that play. His forced double team is what freed Marsh. Also just noticed that Marsh actually dives and sells out at the end of the play to try and knock the ball free. He could have done so sooner, but timed it up so that he'd arrive...

    Huge loss for AZ

They lost to Pittsburgh without Big Ben last year. The Cardinals have aren't a bad team but something about their recent run of success has always felt a little fake to me. I guess that plus how they got brutally blown out by Seattle and Carolina. It seems like when the Cardinals have a bad...

    D was ferocious

Miami's offense has some talent on it, and a smart coach. I thought Miami would get to 20 on us, given that Gase hates us and had months to prepare. Overall it was an impressive performance by the D.

PFF's take on Week 1: guards struggle, defense dominates

Wow I actually agree with these grades for once. WRT to pressure rate, a lot of that has to do with how long the QB holds the ball. If a QB holds the ball 6 seconds and isn't pressured, that will score the same as a QB who gets the ball out in 1.5 seconds and isn't pressured. It's not useless...

    Remember week 1 of 2013?

Do Tom Brady teams shoot themselves in the foot to death 4-5 times a season? I'm not taking the Dolphins lightly, but if Seattle had played an average game today they would have covered.

    Remember week 1 of 2013?

For the first three quarters or so, Tannehill had all day to throw on most of his dropbacks against a 4 man rush. When Seattle blitzed or did stunts, they looked really good.

    Remember week 1 of 2013?

The pass rush today was a little hit and miss, but when it hit, it looked incredible. Jeremy Lane has a very good game, other than one drive where they picked on him with cover-3 beaters

    Remember week 1 of 2013?

I remember. The Panthers went 12-3 the rest of that season. Seattle played a phenomenal game and barely won. Doug Baldwin and Russell had some sick plays in that game. Had Seattle lost that game, the Panthers would have been the #1 seed in the NFC that year. Ironically, Ron Rivera won coach...

    Long snapper situation

Not sure how much blame the long snapper deserves, but I did notice that Miami came extremely close to blocking several punts and they forced a missed PAT as well. It's an area of concern no question.

A lot of things broke the Seahawks' way

All fair points. That said, it wasn't really a prevent D that allowed Miami to score a TD. Gase has been known to save cover-3 beaters for the final drive of the game, he did it against us when he was Denver's OC in 2014, remember that crazy game when Manning tied it up 20-20 in the final...

    Gutsy performance by the team.

This was a lot like the Detroit game last year. It was a huge win not because the team played great or that the win had special significance, but because of how big a disaster it would have been to lose at home against a lousy team early in the season when you are trying to set the tone for a...

    So, some good news...

Marsh's hustle and tenacity does him a lot of favors in prevent defense type situations. He's a good guy to have on the field when you think the QB is going to stall and hold the ball.

    Marsh, Baldwin, Graham, Richardson, etc.

I like that Seattle had a game like this before the Rams. Should help the team stay focused all week, and if we are lucky, it might have been enough to help the coaches come to their senses regarding the current offensive philosophy.

    Michael or Rawls

I feel like Michael is better at transcending the defense. Against a tougher matchup, I think Michael is a better at creating good runs. Against average or better matchups, I think Rawls gives you more of a complete runner. Part of what makes Michael good at this is that he runs extremely...

Even if we win the SB

Our pass rush looks pretty bad at times in the four man rush, especially on 1st and 2nd downs. But when Seattle blitzes even just one guy, it suddenly looks like the best pass rush in the NFL. I'll give Richard his due, guy knows how to call a blitz. The secondary actually played a mostly...

So say Russ misses a few games..

If it came to that I think they would whip up the PR machine into full gear and then sign back Tjack.

    Not surprised

Makes sense. It was a very obvious run situation. Good, safe pass to audible into.
