the timeout that cost us the Lombardi

Lots of hindsight is obvious in a close game. With Pete you're going to get a few on-the-field misfires. It's just what he does--and sometimes it works out.

Wilson was our leading rusher today

Something was up. He seemed dispirited by the fumble. Turbin actually looked better out there. The Falcons did wrap him up, so the 2 yard gains just never materialized into 5-10 yard gains like they seem to do in the playoffs.

    Congratulations to the Falcons

Stopping Lynch was huge for them. Nobody thought they'd dominate the trenches--better on the run, better at stopping the run than anyone believed. They did enough so that the needle Wilson had to thread was just a little too small (or maybe the needle the defense had to stop Ryan from...

I think I would have rather lost 27-7

A blowout and people start to second-guess the program. Here there's nothing left to second guess, only to improve on execution. This team is young enough to remember this, and to use it to get to bigger places next year.

Well I hope the myth "Hawks can't play on the road" is gone

The team did look a bit gassed. But some of that also has to be the long flights, which would still happen with a 1 pm start. This was an excuse that Holmgren never squashed. For Pete it is a non-starter, so even if it is a factor, don't look to anybody but fans to bitch about it. Next...

Do you know how you will die?

This is sure different from Holmy's Hawks. Wins and losses I could see from miles away. This is a freaking roller coaster every week.

#3. Legendary. The future is bright!! Go Hawks!!

Thank you, Russell Wilson. You've made this eternal pessimist actually think differently.

    Darrell Bevell, you're an idiot.

The fact that he can dial up drives at any point in the game puts him in the top half of coordinators in this league. Adjust quicker, maybe? OK, but the second quarter was already better than the first, and with a few breaks or better execution we don't have this conversation. Bevell didn't...

    4th Quarter Defense

The playcalling was a little funny, too--no pressure at all on the first out, then a blitz that fooled nobody. I do agree that it seems the defensive side of the ball actually needs another piece or two more than the offense, but with a different coverage or pressure package, maybe it comes out...

    Always take the points.

This. We want him to be big balls Pete when he picks up guys like Browner and Sherman and Wilson, then we're going to get a few other gambles here and there. This team is a manic depressive ride, but I can live with this one.

    Incredible Game, Guys

Classy fans, I appreciate teams that don't have history or the NFL hype machine on their side. Hope you destroy the Whiners.

    Darrell Bevell, you're an idiot.

Playcalling is harder than it looks. I also feel woulda coulda shoulda for this game, but the Falcons were absolutely out of their minds in stopping Lynch early, which made it a one-armed contest for a while. The fact that this team clawed back into it places Bevell ahead of someone like the...

    49er fans

The 49er players are all professionals, even those chippy defenders. I'm sure they will be ready to ball, whether it's the Seahawks or the Falcons. And given that, I'm sure they do prefer the home-field advantage against Seattle. The real question is, are the Whiner fans so pumped up that...
