    10 Draft Picks?

Three of the picks are 7th rounders, if I'm not mistaken. That's basically calling out your UDFAs a little early. Not that it can't hit--Doug Baldwin was a steal--but it is low-probability stuff at that point.

    Youth

Pretty amazing when you put it in print like that. That's some serious youth. And guys like Wagner and Irvin will get better--this could get really really good.

Are Malcom Smith/Mike Morgan good enough to replace Leroy?

It's a question of resources. We probably take a day 3 flier for depth, like Korey Toomer was this year, but I doubt they burn anything earlier on it.

    Even though we lost....

The Holmgren Seahawks were like sipping whiskey. The Carroll Seahawks are like cocaine.

Okay, so what will take the place of..

Maybe we're just talking past each other. All I'm saying is that the DL is the one spot where a high draft pick probably guarantees less than any other position, except for quarterback. I agree we need a better line. Sure, let's try, and I'm sure the team will try. But it's sort of like...

Okay, so what will take the place of..

D-line is also home of big-time top-end draft busts. Sure, we haven't gone that route, yet. But nothing is automatic. For every Ndamukong Suh there's a "Big Daddy" Wilkinson ready to disappear.

What are your honest thoughts on Gus Bradley???

It's rare for a guy to stay on with a new coaching regime, as Gus stayed on after the Mora putrosity. Gus clearly impresses people at the interview stage. I agree we just don't know, but Pete is not a sentimental guy. Check out the article on Cover-3 defense at Field Gulls for more on...

Everyone list something positive from the 2012 Season

Russell. Wilson. There are other things that could be said, but he's the story of the year, start and finish, period.

Okay, so what will take the place of..

Yeah, we all want a better d-line. Show me a team that doesn't? It's not like they haven't tried every year, but you don't simply go to the bus stop and find a pass rush specialist.

    Random Musings...

Pete loves his schemes. Red is probably not going anywhere. This is what you get with a passionate mad genius--the good and the bad. The good is (for example) Richard Sherman in the 5th round, the bad is only one player on the line able to really generate any rush, given the love for the huge...

I came to gloat, but I love you guys to much

Any given Sunday, any given Sunday... The Falcons out-physicaled us most of the game. They'll do all right.

The falcons should send a thank you card to dan snyder

The rest of your fanbase has been nothing but classy. Why don't you go read a book and learn something?

    "Overrated SEAHAWKS!!"

that was a classy reply on your part. I am glad our fan base has fewer douche tickets than many other teams. Keep on representing in TN!

I haven't decided if it's good or bad...

This team is almost too young to know that they are supposed to lose. If they keep that up, with a few tweaks they might not lose at all next year!

    I'm PROUD Of My Hawks!

Hear, hear! With Carroll you get the good and the bad together. They're part of the same package. I know that this team is completely differently built from Holmgren's, from roster to philosophy to playbook; the Holmy teams were conservative, sure, played the odds. This team will gamble and...

    Irony

This D is built to not give up the big play. But it will get gashed a lot, and it is a tall order to keep a team like Atlanta out of field goal range. Pete has shown unwillingness to depart from his principles when he things they're central, and for defense the big body, stop the run, stop...

Two straight weeks with crushing Lynch fumbles

I love Turbin. He was great today. But he is not the tackle-breaker that Lynch is. Despite his physique he is a 3rd down type back. That said, Lynch did seem off today, so switching might have been right, if Lynch was just physically or mentally not quite there.

Why not try a 65 yard FG with the last play ??

Funny, didn't Pete try a 61 yarder with Hauschka against the Falcons last year? And the final score, 30-28. Either way is low percentage, you just have to hope for the best by that point.

Random Thoughts™ on the Falcons game

Great post. Pete is flexible on a lot of things, but stays true to his fundamental principles and will not deviate from what he things is basic. The monster 5 tech and Leo combo is one of those, at least so far. I'd be surprised if Red or Irvin are in different spots next year (assuming...

Worst part about losing to soft ATL

The Falcons played physical today. They showed more toughness than we gave them credit for.
