710 (Salk) going on about Doug and Russ

I think he said that yesterday's show. When I get home I will send you a link with timestamp

    Penny frustrated, Pete likes it.

Not sure who that comment was directed towards but receivers typically take a while to get going whereas it's more common for RBs to hit the ground running so to speak. RBs are also much less valuable than receivers (the NFL agrees, RBs are the lowest paid of any offensive position) so...

710 (Salk) going on about Doug and Russ

Salk definitely said Doug was one of the guys talking about Russ to ESPN for those articles.

    Sherman So Far

He's one of the best tackling CBs, so I'm sure he'll hold his own.

710 (Salk) going on about Doug and Russ

Am I missing something here? He's talking as if Doug was one of the sources for those ESPN articles and that Doug has been talking behind Russ' back. Was this ever confirmed? A quick google search turned up nothing for me on that front. Salk went as far as to predict this is Doug's last season...

I dont understand the optimism after an "almost win"?

Right, and a crushing knee injury to any team's great players can derail its season. You can't really factor that into your analysis of football unless you're discussing a proven injury prone player, which none of those guys is. It comes across like you're saying starting off hot is not a good...

    Penny frustrated, Pete likes it.

Yeah, but Hernandez is a young, cheap player under club control for years. Guards also play at a higher level for longer than RBs, usually. Steven Jackson was great as was Larry Johnson. I'm not that high on Mark Ingram tbh, but he has been productive. I would hope Penny can be better than...

    Michael Bennett and Sheldon Richardson

Mike B just strip sacked Eli too.

I find it very hard to believe Hernandez wouldn't be starting over Sweezy or Fluker at one of the guard spots and they probably wouldn't even have signed Sweezy if they had Hernandez, who has been graded very well by PFF so far. The Melvin Gordon comparison makes sense in that he wasn't good...

    Protection

The Rams OL has stonewalled everyone they've played, including a very talented Vikings front, albeit without Everson Griffen. They might be the best in the league

Seahawks are #1 in red zone scoring

Hmm I wonder how they rates compared to other years for the Seahawks and I'm also curious about the splits between the first and second halves of the season. It seemed to me that last season there was a marked improvement when Jimmy and Russ got in sync.

Seahawks are #1 in red zone scoring

Weren't we pretty good in the redzone last year even with the disaster of a run game we had? Jimmy was pretty damn reliable there once he and Russ got their goal line connection sorted out. Now that we can run it in from inside the five, we are looking even better, especially if we can get a...

    Playing to Win

OP are you talking about attempting the 60+ yarder or the fact that they were clearly trying to run the clock down and kick a FG instead of being aggressive on their last possession?

    Sherman So Far

Thanks for the answer. I think at some point this year someone's gonna test him and I wonder who it will be. Rodgers has been pretty content to avoid him so we probably won't see that this week. Hopefully he can get back on the INT train.

    Sherman So Far

Right but teams are flat out not throwing at him so he's about as effective as a CB can be. That said, do you think it's a dam about to burst situation? Meaning the first good QB to really test him exposes him and it all comes crashing down? I hope not as a fan but what are your thoughts pops?

Back to back penalty's on last drive the nail in the coffin.

Jimmy G hit the nail on the head. Let's stop with the persecution complex nonsense.

Back to back penalty's on last drive the nail in the coffin.

Allowing 10 YPA to Goff was pretty bad too. Just rewatched the game and as bad ass as the seahawks offense was, the Rams were actually just gliding down the field on offense. Defense got out schemed badly and the Rams OL dominated them on the goal line

Seahawks are #1 in red zone scoring

The run game and PA have shown to work. Our straight dropback passing game is abysmal, however.

I dont understand the optimism after an "almost win"?

We had the number 1 scoring defense the year prior and were popular picks to make the SB in 2013, along with Denver. Saying the Rams and Chiefs are built to win in September and not the playoffs seems like rationalisation or hopefulness to me. They're the best teams in the league until proven...

    Turnovers

Beat me to it pops. Turnovers are largely random so having a defense that relies on them to stay afloat is not a winning strategy BUT when they come you take em and run.
