"Waste a play" was poor choice of words - not intent

I hear a lot of people, including my favorite radio personality, recall Pete's account of the play call in which Pete casually refers to "we were going to waste a play", referring to the slant route. I don't think that's what Pete meant. I think he was just trying to explain that since we...

We need big WR's next year.

Please NO! Fitzgerald is a Hall of Famer and a classy guy, but he is way past his prime and will cost too much. I would rather spend that money on CB depth or a TE.

Is anyone else backtracking about the "worst call ever"?

Excellent response, and I agree 100% with everything you said. What makes the call and outcome so much more difficult is that it went completely against what our team is all about, and our identity. For the past two weeks, the hype around Marshawn created a perfect situation after Kearse's...

Loss of Jeremy Lane = 14 points for the Patriots

OP is assuming Lane would have made all the plays that Simon didn't. Not sure that's accurate.

Will a Super Bowl win in the future make up this SB loss?

It won't erase it, but it will certainly put it to rest. I will never forget XL, but it doesn't bother me anymore like it used to. I think that after a while our players will use this loss as extra motivation for winning 50 next year.

Is anyone else backtracking about the "worst call ever"?

I will admit that after sleeping on it, reading and watching dozens of points of analysis, I am backtracking on calling out the INT as the worst call in football. It's easy to question anything in hindsight, especially under the gravity of the situation, but now that I have seen so many facts...

    Lynch contract is a mistake.

Just out of curiosity, would you trade Lynch to Oakland for their #1 pick?

    Lynch contract is a mistake.

Tricky situation. Wilson is clearly our leader for the next 10 years, so we pay him what we must. Lynch, on the other hand, is the heartbeat of the team. He not only fires up the offense, but the defense as well. You can't measure his value just by his numbers. This is where it gets tricky...

    Who would replace Bevell?

It's easy to replace him. Just find someone who knows the value of Lynch, and is willing to call read-options and bootlegs with our QB.

Did Carroll get outcoached at the end?

The Big Picture... Carroll and Bevell allowed the Pats to be the protagonist, and we responded. We should be the protagonist, forcing the Pats to adjust and respond. Every person on the planet knew the smart play was to run Marshawn.

Does Bevell stay or does he go? (ALL Bevell talk HERE)

We don't have a choice. He has to go. That call singlehandedly cost us the Super Bowl and he will never regain the trust of his players or the fans. Whether he deserves to remain as OC doesn't matter at this point - he's lost the locker room. I've always believed that the Seahawks win...

    Baldwin's Penalty

I have always liked Doug Baldwin and his "chip on the shoulder" mentality. But the past couple of weeks have really worn me down on him. From screaming about Deion calling him "Aight" after an amazing TEAM win, to a premeditated defecation end zone celebration following a catch I could have...

Anyone still annoyed at the non tripping call?

Officiating had no impact on the outcome of this game.

    When that plane lands

THIS. Well said. The Seahawks know what mistakes were made. Show them that we are there for them.

Did Carroll get outcoached at the end?

No point in analyzing the overall coaching. History will gauge this game on that one call, so that's all we need to look at - and Carroll (Bevell) made the wrong call. PC can try and justify why they wanted to pass on that down, and I honestly see where he's coming from in terms of making sure...

What will assuage the grief for you?

Nothing short of a public apology by Bevell, followed by signing Lynch to a 3-year deal TODAY will assuage this loss.

I am kind of legitimately happy for Brady

What Brady was able to accomplish against our defense was remarkable, but I will never allow myself to be happy for him. Dude is an insincere, pompous douche with a helluva throwing arm. Bevell made deflate-gate go away in one fell swoop.

Congratulations to the Patriots on a hard faught win.

Congratulations to the Pats. As painful as this loss is for us Seahawks fans, the Pats won this game fair and square, unlike the Steelers of XL. I think it's amazing how one play will ultimately make such a huge impact on Tom Brady and Bill Belichick's legacy in the NFL. Brady has instantly...

    Drunk 12's Thread Only

Baldwin pulled a Randy Moss move and mooned the crowd in the end zone. I didn't know RW showered at halftime, but whatever works, go with it! I like Matthews - he has made the most of his opportunities the past couple of weeks. Anyone else notice that Brady is always alone on the sideline...
