Updated: Hawks Decline LB Brooks' 5th year option...

As others have said this is just about positional value. Off-ball LBs get lumped in with more valuable pass rushing OLBs and so their franchise tags and fifth year options are completely out of alignment with their value. Underpaid tenders Safeties who play man coverage (CB playing on S tag)...

2023 defense, will the league respect?

Technically we are OK, in that we can sign our rookies with our current cap space and have 0.9 cap space remaining. In reality, we'd rather have about 5m in cap space at this time of year. It would still make sense to extend Nwosu, Fant and Lewis.

    Jets signing Al Woods

Lump me into the "don't care" group. Ford was bad last year, Woods is one more year over the hill and couldn't play enough, and those were two big factors as to why our interior run defense sucked. Give me motivated youngsters like Cam Young, Robert Cooper and Ifeanyi Maijeh instead any day...

How close are the Seahawks to a Superbowl run?

If you can make the playoffs then you can make a Super Bowl run. After the fact, we tend to fall into the narrative fallacy to explain to ourselves why the team that won did so due to talent and scheme. The truth, however, is that injury luck, officiating luck, and simply randomness play a...

Did Jerrod Clark made a mistake by not joining the Hawks?

I'm sure we wanted Clark, but he ended up with most of the Chargers UDFA guaranteed pool ($105k). We had way too many UDFA to pursue this year to give so much of it to one guy. I also won't fault Clark for taking $105k guaranteed where he could get it, especially because that signifies that...

    Zach Charbonnet

My opinion is also that it was Anderson, but with modern sports journalism it's hard to keep facts and opinions delineated. From what I've seen the FO has been careful not to specify the players. Do you think they actually told Brady Henderson for some reason, or could that just be Henderson's...

    Jake Bobo

Big possession receiver who had good production. Those pro day testing numbers were outside during a storm at UCLA and should be discounted, I'd bet he's closer to 4.7 speed. I don't love his chances to make the initial 53 man roster, but it's possible and more importantly I love the...

    Matt Landers, WR from Arkansas

The difference between Landers and the typical tall/fast project WR is that Landers can reliably catch the football. He had four drops last season over 13 games played with a 72.3 PFF receiving grade. 1400 yards receiving the last two seasons at Arkansas.

Seahawks invite xfl brahmas qb Jack Coan to rookie minicamp

It's just a tryout. If he does well, then we might cut somebody else and sign him to our 90 man roster instead.

    Personal Draft grades

We can mostly agree on that list. QB is the only tier 1 for me, then I'd add RT and WR in the second tier with LT and CB. DL would split into elite pass rushers (very valuable), and others (replaceable). RB is also a low tier for me.

    Day 2 "upsets"?

Good discussion topic. I could have seen them really liking Avila who went directly in front of Hall. LG/C/RG flexibility which they have put a premium on and strong senior bowl showing. In front of #52 really most of those guys would have been good fits for us. Branch as S/CB (#45), White...

Kenny McIntosh Gets Emotional During His 2023 NFL Draft Conference Call

98%? No seventh round pick is guaranteed, but he's a good player at an area of need with great intangibles.

    Personal Draft grades

In my view your take on center/WR value is backwards. Consider that the 9th highest center contract (Avg/year) right now is Bradley Bozeman at $6m/year. The 9th highest WR contract is McLaurin at $23m/year. WR is one of the highest paid positions and Center is one of the lowest paid...

    Personal Draft grades

That might be fair when it comes to talent alone, but the complete picture should also include cost. Can we agree that the most talented team every year is necessarily the one with the highest talent per dollar spent? Bijan's cost: 406 draft capital (RH) 2023: $4.2m 2024: $5.2m 2025: $6.2m...

    The need to address qb3

Holton Ahlers was my late QB target! There's a lot to like about him and I think he'll win a lot of fans over in training camp.

Pick 154: Olusegun Oluwatimi Center Michigan

Because he had good production in a good conference (Big 10). That's a different conversation from both measurables and traits. To be clear, I'm thrilled to end up with Oluwatimi at #154. I had us taking him a full round earlier (#119) in my February plan.

    Matt Landers, WR from Arkansas

I know there will be other places to talk UDFAs, but Landers absolutely deserves his own thread now that he has reportedly signed with us. I liked him as early as the fourth round and in my view he has a great chance of making the team. Landers is a true X receiver with great size and the...

2023 defense, will the league respect?

I agree on the impact of UDFAs. We had 54 players total and will be signing a ridiculous number of UDFAs over the next two days to build out a full roster. I expect there will be a handful who make the 53 man roster this year on both sides of the ball.

Pundits' critique of Seahawks' draft picks

Any bad grades based on drafting Charbonnet and McIntosh when we "already had Walker" just tells me those pundits are too lazy to look at a simple depth chart available all over the internet. I don't know a single fan who didn't expect at least one RB.

Pick 154: Olusegun Oluwatimi Center Michigan

Ole is just a good center. He doesn't have elite strength or measurables and that's OK. He has plus athleticism for our zone scheme, good football IQ, and good leadership. He'll be extremely cheap for the next four seasons and that's how we should roll at center.
