    Cable GONE

Wilson definitely causes some sacks, but I actually think overall he probably saves sacks compared to most QBs. That running around is sometimes on him, but more often the line has completely collapsed and he's running for his life and quite often gets out of trouble.

    Cable GONE

This was clearly necessary. Like Bevell, I don't know what was and wasn't Cable's fault, but at some point we need to see some results or give someone else a shot. And if Cable really is a great OL coach as some claim and the team has been setting him up to fail, I really wonder why he stuck...

Poll: Who initiated the letting go of the coaches?

Any of them seem possible, the timing so close to the JS to GB stuff is interesting although a bit hard to believe it changed his stature here that significantly. The reason i think it probably was at least primarily Pete, even if out of character, is his statements recently have been far more...

    REPORT: Darrell Bevell Fired

I'm not totally convinced he was the problem or wasn't a good OC, but given the offensive struggles outside of Wilson magic, and how long he's been OC, I think a bit of a shakeup will be good for both sides. Not thrilled with possibility of Sarkisian though. I can't say I saw many Falcons...

Does Schneider head back to GB?

I always thought this path was unlikely, but I wonder if there was an argument based more on Pete's role than John's. My understanding is Pete is officially John's boss, although I could have that wrong. A GM with full roster authority and ability to fire the coach (and possibly a title...

Clayton says Bevell and Cable will be back

Not surprising unfortunately. I don't even necessarily believe for sure that Bevell and Cable are the problem, but after so many years of sub-par performance from their groups, I'd like to see what someone else can do with our personnel. Perhaps it turns out coaching wasn't the problem, but...

    NEW Kicker?

So after the failed experiment of signing a previously great kicker who got cut the previous season because he could no longer kick well, we did the same thing minus the "previously great" part? Wonderful. Hopefully this is just for training camp competition.

Playoff chances just increased to 25%

Although the Vikings are still playing the early game, so the shot at a first round bye could be gone by the time Carolina plays. Still, potential division winner vs wildcard should be enough for them to go all out.

Playoff chances just increased to 25%

The NFL usually does a good job on week 17 keeping all games interesting and fair. That's why there's never TNF/MNF, SNF is always Flexed in the last week (no specific game scheduled), and the only games scheduled in the late afternoon slot are west coast games that can't be played in the...

How Seahawks get in the Playoffs

To exclude one other (unlikely) path: any chance we hold the tie-braker with Carolina? I didn't realize the odds were that bad.. Even if the Seahawks win out, it seems most likely no playoffs.

    End of an Era

After last couple of weeks I think the odds of Jimmy re-signing here is basically 0 (not that I ever thought it was likely)

    Please stop resigning Vets

This is a really tough one. In isolation I don't think the signings are bad, but in combination it may be too much money on players who are (based on history) statistically likely to see their performance decline significantly in the near future.

    Dont you dare blame injuries

Behind a good offensive line I'd take Bradford over Keenum any day - I honestly think it's just pure luck that Keenum doesn't have more interceptions, he looks wildly inaccurate on long balls. Behind a spotty line, there's a decent argument for Keenum since he's actually a decent scrambler.

    End of an Era

Well said. In the NFL it's possible to retool without completely tanking. If we could stay relatively healthy I still think this is at least a wild-card team for a few more seasons, and with some smart moves and drafting could be contenders again. After such a strong run, this was bound to...

    POLL: Should Bevell be fired?

Honestly I don't know if he's the problem or not, but I'm kind of at the point where I'd just like to try something different. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't, but the offense has been inconsistent for a long time now while on paper looking like it has a pretty strong group. Given we probably...

    Dont you dare blame injuries

Bridgewater looked okay in past seasons, not great (but then again I wouldn't call Keenum's play great: he's done what he's needed to do with the rest of the team playing some really good football). The excitement around Bridgewater was really based on the idea that a lot of people thought he's...

    Dont you dare blame injuries

Every team has injuries, but the defensive injuries this year may have just been too much. Other than the front 4, all our pro bowlers were either out or extremely beat up. To some extent, teams need to be built for depth, but not many teams could sustain injuries to that many of their key...

    Blair Walsh still here

had would be the right term. While his 56 long isn't crazy, he was clutch over 50: was 10/10 over 50 as a rookie (10 being an NFL record which Justin Tucker tied last year).

    Blair Walsh still here

It's hard to say what the right stats are, given different kick lengths, different stadiums, different number of attempts, etc. Trying to be fair: a.) On XP the percentage ranks 12th for players with at least 10 attempts (16th for all kickers) b.) The FG percentage is bad, it looks slightly...

    Blair Walsh sighting

    http://www.nfl.com/player/blairwalsh/25 ... areerstats - 30 of 31 XP - 6 of 6 from 20-29 - 7 of 10 from 30-39 - 7 of 10 from 40-49 - 0 of 1 from 50+ Those stats certainly aren't great, but I also don't consider them awful, especially since I did say "other than that one game" which accounts...
