Who is JS referring to here?

I don't think Whitehurst was low risk. TJack and Flynn were low risk (just some cap space we didn't particularly need on a low-risk contract), Whitehurst cost a third round pick and a trade down in the 2nd that is worth a 3rd on the (outdated draft pick value chart - IMO more like a 4th). I bet...

    NBA returning to Seattle?

Most negotiating is leverage, at least at the political level. Each side reveals why the other side needs to capitulate, rather than actually trading concessions like you might expect. I think some of that is going on here - Stern wanted the relocation committee only to make a recommendation...

    NBA returning to Seattle?

https://twitter.com/TheMontyShow SF Sports guy who has been saying that Sacramento would keep the Kings and talking Seattle expansion for at least a week. More accurate than most so far. He's saying that Hansen and NBA are working on an expansion deal. Public announcement or it never happened...

    NBA returning to Seattle?

If St. Hansen isn't able to get a public commitment of an expansion team, on a timeline he agrees to, I hope he sues the everloving bejeebus out of the NBA. We know how much the behind-the-door promises of David Stern are worth.

OLB? Malcolm Smith? What is the plan

If Smith is healthy, I think he'll be pretty good. He's flashed some good ability. My biggest concern is depth. Not sure what we have in Toomer, it doesn't seem like we have a ton of depth here. But, then again, with Winfield and the general move towards 3+ WR sets, we probably aren't going to...

At 123 Seattle selects: Chris harper, WR KS

I swear, my sense of humor translates a lot better in person!

At 123 Seattle selects: Chris harper, WR KS

Worst thing I can say about Harper is that he demonstrates poor decision making. Decides he'd rather be a WR that catches passes in Bill Snyder's offense with Colin Klein as his QB, instead of in Chip Kelly's offense with Thomas/Mariotta as his QB??? Probably cost him 300+ yards this season alone.

Can everyone please just boycott the mariners?

I stuck with the Mariners through the lows and lows of the past 9 years, but I stopped supporting them after they threw a hissyfit over the new NBA/NHL arena. I can handle losing. I can't handle the slap in the face the Mariners gave all joint Mariners/Sonics fans.

Leonard Weaver to sign 1-day contract, retire as Eagle

Actually I think most of Ruskell's moves were no-brainers. Just in a different way than you mean. I would've loved to see Weaver play for Carroll (pre-MRob). You can bet that PC would get the ball in Weaver's hands in space.

    NBA returning to Seattle?

That doesn't make sense. If the relocation vote doesn't have enough backing for even 50%, there's no reason to hold a sales vote. Do you really think anyone who votes "no" to relocation would vote yes for an owner who has no intention of keeping the team in Sacramento? If we can't get 50% of...

    Seneca Wallace?

While I strongly disagree with "Dumb as an old boot", Seneca does have a learning disability and I remember reading that he required extra help to understand the offense back in the Holmgren days. That's not ideal in a backup QB who won't see a whole lot of reps. He's also spent basically his...

    NBA returning to Seattle?

If KJ's takeaway from Seattle's fiasco was that the team left because of fan support, we're golden. I don't believe that is his takeaway at all, but if it were true it would mean he has no idea what is important to the NBA and that would sink his chances of keeping the Kings. Johnson's campaign...

    Harvin vs Cruz

I'm not sure I disagree that Eli can make a WR, but I disagree that the Giants haven't invested at WR. First, they gave Eli Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer (and Shockey, who was as much WR as TE). Pretty good targets for a new QB, though Toomer was on the decline. Then, they spent a first on...

Article: Russell Wilson a system QB

The term system QB lacks a common definition. To me, it means a player that is dependent on a particular system to play well. Meaning, in another system, they'd probably fail. Hasselbeck is, by that definition, a system QB, because even in his prime there were real limitations to his game. It...

If you were Clowney would you sit out?

And what makes you an expert on what drives these guys? Specifically, Clowney? Enough of an expert to say others have no clue what they are talking about. Maurice Clarrett was as good a collegiate performer as Clowney at one point, and I think we can safely say that he isn't, "extremely...

If you were Clowney would you sit out?

I'm pretty sure we're as informed about what it is like to be a professional caliber athlete as you are.

If you were Clowney would you sit out?

Possibly. It would depend - does he enjoy college? Does he need money now for a particular reason (could get an advance from an agent)? How much is he worried about injury vs mastering his craft? If Clowney is only doing the school for football, has a family member with medical issues that...

Receivers: not a luxury in FA

That might have been what PC and JS thought, originally. But they've now found a QB who is a lot more than just a fit. Not saying it has to happen this year (although I think we'll see some movement that direction), but RW's role needs to grow as he improves. Even Pittsburgh has done it with...

Question for UW fans regarding Scholarship #'s.

As a known Duck in Dawg territory, yeah, there's quite a bit of animosity from UW fans directed Oregon's way. Admittedly, wearing my Ducks gear doesn't help, but I don't go out of my way to provoke them (I target the OSU fans mostly). Still get a lot of friendly needling, considering how...
