    Shane Waldron approval rating poll

Watching the rams execute the run and get wide open intermediate plays is tantalizing. Question: I read that Waldron has never called the plays in a regular season game as OC. What sort of confidence do we have that by osmosis he absorbed enough to carry it over to our passing game? I mean...

    Key thing Waldron said!!

Well yeah if you ignore the scheming of open receivers over the middle that Wilson stared down there were no adjustments

    Revisionist History on the OLine

Sure let’s just ignore all the film of short passes being schemed and open and Russ staring at them and triple clutching. AlL tHe RoUtEs aRe lOnG

    Metcalf Calls Out Carroll

The adjustment was to scheme the short middle but the QB won’t take that. This all over the film, and disproves the laughable tropes that Pete won’t allow MOF passes or that schotty didn’t adjust or called all go routes. It might be possible for an OC to give Russell a look vs zone under that...

    Metcalf Calls Out Carroll

So I remember the last niner game being one where the narrative was about the OC calling only long pass plays. I went back and watched the 2 sacks in that game (small sample size, but worth seeing what went wrong when a sack is completed by the opposition). 7:22 left in the 2nd quarter. 3rd...

    The Sky is the Limit

The 2019 and 2020 pass rush disagrees with the notion that we are somehow less susceptible to the cap than other teams, and if we pour 16mil into a blitzing safety our front 4 isn’t getting any better. Better hope Adams gets home every time because it’s a short handed backfield with him...

    Metcalf Calls Out Carroll

That’s your fallback “was it in the progression” lately when folks show tape of Wilson failing to pull the trigger on a short or middle route. It fails utterly because keasley45 quite rightly pointed out that all you do is spout speculation as a fan if you’re not watching or responding to tape...

    Russ regressing

In fact my criticism of schotty isn’t that he can’t scheme open players short middle. It’s that he tries to scheme them there at all. Russ can’t or won’t execute it. Hand the ball off all game and hope it works when they are dropping 2 safeties and playing zone under as well.

    Russ regressing

Your tip a while back on matty brown got me finding those film guys on Twitter and that changed my whole outlook. I actually think brown can go over the top wanting Russ to test some windows (it feels to me like brown thinks honey hole execution is easier than it is but I’m no expert) but...

TE's being useless was a major factor for poor offense too

TEs are great weapons over the middle. Russ ignored the TEs there this year. Watch film of 2 TEs running 7 yard hitches and Russ just electing not to throw it. Graham was great the final year here but we skewed the offense like crazy before that to get him the ball and it caused issues. I...

I hope Pete and Snyder are watching the Pack today

Yep. If anything schotty should have given up scheming short throws as Russ was a tire fire over the middle vs the rams and he had guys open. Brees and Rodgers just zip those right in there. All that’s left for an OC is to hand the ball off more, and it should have happened. Hell GB handed...

    Yes we do.

    Rams v Packers

I will absolutely dance with you on a good OL being crucial for how Pete wants to play, and also giving Russ throwing lanes like Brees. I don't see Russ being effective over the middle like Brees, but I won't sign in blood unless we put the horses up front to allow evaluation. That said, the...

Seahawks have contacted Doug Pederson for OC

Maelstrom and keasley45 deserve recognition as must-read posters on this forum. Those are two posters who, if they blast a post I make, instead of getting defensive I take a good long look at where I went wrong. But they aren't the blasting type, which is another reason they elevate conversation.

What does Green Bay have that we don't?

It's been years since our QB execution in the playoffs has been adequate, ditto our game plans. Regular season Russ can beat anyone when it's one of his streaks of good play. Post season Russ scares nobody, and we don't help him with play calling.

    Rams v Packers

Attrition? Who were we missing on either side of the ball who would have been game changers? Secondary was healthy, minus Dunbar but I think we all feel Reed was equal or better than what we were getting from him. LBs, DL healthy. Adams dinged up but that was self-inflicted by keeping him in...

    Rams v Packers

    - Packer OL undeniably great. Dominant performance today. - Packer OC stuck with the run as it was working, which we did not - Offensive game plan overall was perfect, and not at all mind-blowing to anyone who had watched the Rams. Run the ball and get body blows in underneath until the Rams...

    Rams v Packers

Agreed. Carson averaged 4.8 ypc vs the rams. That schotty didn't ride that more was my biggest criticism of him, amd i expect pete had some rather directed comments to him on the topic as well.

Seahawks have contacted Doug Pederson for OC

Screen passes that aren’t out wide are a risk for being tipped even for tall QBs like tannehill in the wild card round because the D linemen being let through are nearer the QB at the release. For a shorter QB it’s exacerbated. Fans can stop wishing for RB screens. We’ve never called many and...

The Tuesday ESPN Seattle we need to run more narrative...

If you ever posted anything on the subject I’d Wilson in good faith I’d point you to a heat map and start the discussion there, and then talk about how reviewing game footage this year, especially for games where complaints arose about no short routes, and staring at the short middle after the...
