    When we hired Kubiak there was all the talk about how we had this great situation to attract good coordinators. Supposedly that meant we had a lot of talent for them to work with. Apparently it actually meant they were getting a clean slate to start with.

    Definitely he signed before being tagged. I’m sure they would have but if they both came to an agreement before it won’t be necessary. I’m sure he’ll make a good bit more than last year but it’ll be a very low number for the amount of time he’ll likely see on the field.

    The team doesn’t usually announce that. It’ll be out soon enough. Shouldn’t be a lot though. I believe if he’d made it to free agent he’d have been a RFA anyway.

    No doubt about it. They had announced that they were in contract discussions and he obviously didn’t want to go as low as the they wanted. When he said no he knew this was the result.

    $17 million was just too much extra cap space to pay him at this point. Selfishly I hope he doesn’t find a suitor and signs back here at a more reasonable price but I wish him nothing but the best no matter what. Class act off the field and a great receiver on the field.

    Would be nice to get something for him. I’d expect any trade at this point to be no higher than a 7th or a conditional future pick. Whether we cut or trade him we get about $5 million in cap relief though and that’s a good thing.

    Knight did a great job last season and had his own impact improving our defense but the way Jones was able to have players in the right positions and making adjustments when they weee out of position was fun to watch and I believe was the major factor.

    I’m pretty sure that Dodson was our Mike guy and a few weeks after his arrival Jones took that responsibility.
