First two years of Russ on this team, ball security was his #1 job. Ingrained in his head: "Don't make a risky throw. Make a play with your legs, throw the ball away or take the sack instead". Three years later he's now expected to "Make the risky throw--throw your receiver open or let him go...
The starting line played together for the first time in the regular season, and put forth a "C+" game against a top 3 D-line at 10AM on the road. Even the penalties were largely in check.
Very promising.
He's playing this week because he literally does whatever it takes. That's our QB! Hopefully this will lessen the panic around here every time we see him take a tough shot (small part of larger article):
