What other team out there pays a QB top money and is a true run first team? Atlanta is closest, but all teams that pay a QB top dollar live and die by the QB passing the ball. Salary cap dictates it and trying to pin yourself as a run first time with a $20M+ QB is silly.
That article shines light on part of the problem, but all but ignores another factor: poor trades and FA acquisitions. Maybe we're singing a different tune if Pete sticks to his philo but:
1.) Keeps Unger and the 1st rounder we traded for Graham
2.) Signs Lang and Whitworth instead of Joeckel...
Sherman's behavior is emblematic of a team in which the lunatics are running the asylum. Pete's voice is simply ignored at this point.
Wish Lewan would have decked Sherman. He deserved it, and then he could be sure he's not as tough as he thinks he is.
Defensive line performance will be key. Slightly worried about the heat at game time, supposed to be around 88 degrees, as we didn't fare well in that scorcher in San Diego a few years back. Having more bodies on the DL will help.
You phrase it as if it's an impossible task. It isn't. Don't sign Lacy nor Joeckel and don't trade for and pay a TE you can't use in Graham. That gives you more than enough cap space to sign Whitworth at LT and Lang at guard. Also lets you keep Unger AND a first round pick.
That's a pretty...
Titans fans talking smack... Never thought I'd live to see the day. Have at it, young fella, but your franchise doesn't really have much material to work with.
The OP is good. Keep posting, I like your insights!
Top 5. As long as Brady continues to lace them up he'll be the greatest to ever take the field. Then comes Rodgers. Rest are debatable. Matt Ryan doesn't get the respect but he's a better performing QB than Russell currently.
I'm getting tired of this OL discussion not because it's resolved, but because nothing changes. Yes, we invest significant draft capital in the position group. This year we even spent some FA money there. That's what makes it frustrating. Tony Dungy has a decent eye for talent and his comment...
The numbers aren't quite accurate, but the sentiment is relatively applicable. 56.13% of the cap is spent on Defense (highest proportion in the league) and 36.80% on offense (30th in the league). The remainder is spent on special teamers, players on IR, and the practice squad.
Interestingly...
Mike Williams was 6'5 245lb and he played decently well in this offense. Jimmy could fill a role like that, at least part time.
Pete is tremendous at adapting the defense to the strengths of the personnel. Just look at Chancellor. With the offense, he's not as adept. I just don't see the logic...
That's just nonsense. If he was split out at WR and occupied that spot we could bring in a blocking TE and not have Graham worry about it.
Or did I miss the chart that stipulates if you're over a certain size you HAVE to pass protect?
