    Points given up is just a very simplistic and thoughtless way to evaluate things. Even elite defenses will suffer when you can't convert any 3rd downs and set the defense up in bad field position.

    Things CAN change quickly in the NFL. Get a franchise QB and stack talent at DL and OL. They'd be set.

    Both are to blame. Very strange to blame just the defense though when the offense is 1-12 on 3rd downs. Not only will gas your defense but you are also giving up field position constantly.     Good post. It all starts up front. They spend a lot on skill players WR's and DB's but none of those matter unless you are great on OL and DL. San Fran, Dallas, Philly, etc have that blueprint.

    It seemed like the wheels fell off in the Rams game as soon as both Tackles got hurt. The backups have done a very good job considering since.

    Yes having a Bye later in the year is much better especially for a playoff run but this is an exception. Granted our upcoming opponents aren't great if the team kept going without a bye I'd worry their injuries could become more serious ones.
