Welp, that's what happens when you put a AAA reliever with an ERA well north of 7 into a jam late in the game with the game and the series on the line.
Absolutely inexcusable unless there was literally no other reliever available.

Tough end to the series and the road trip.
Was doing well until the 8th but the bullpen melts down to the tune of 5 runs. We scored more than 3, but it still wasn't enough. Apparently our 'pen is made up of half leverage arms and half shlubs.
Long sad flight and no rest. Angels in town tomorrow night.

Didn't see a single pitch today fortunately. Totally not surprised these goofballs lost yet again. Sounds like yet another loss due to horrible roster construction.

Under .500 now past the midway point.
Good thing they only have to play at a 100 win pace the rest of the way just to get to a respectable 90 wins.

Media keeps telling them they are a HR scoring Team.. so they keep swinging for that.. vs.. actual hits
Really feels like they had their shot last year. This team isn't remotely as good or locked in as the 2025 Mariners, imo.
I'll happily crow up, like I did last year. But at this point, I don't think they even make the playoffs.

I believe they had 11 hits yesterday, most of them singles. I actually think that is a positive sign that they are going with pitches instead of swinging for the fences every at bat.
It's more their inability to gets hit with RISP. Year after year. It's beyond maddening.

Scott Servais got fired for less (didn't think he was great either in fairness).
Wasn't a fan of Servais either. But........he's better than Dan. Period.

Jerry Dipoto used Scott Servais as a scapegoat for his own mistakes.
The season before Servais got fired, the M's were very nearly top 10 in runs scored per game, but everyone complained about too many strikeouts. So Dipoto got rid of 2 of our most productive players in Teo and Geno, and replaced them with Haniger, Garver, and Polanco, and paid $45 million to do it, which was more than it would have cost to just keep Teo and Geno. The result of those moves was that the M's dropped all the way from a nearly top 10 scoring team to nearly dead last, and still struck out just as much. Jerry's moves were nothing short of a disaster... and yet Servais was the one that got fired.
And let's not forget how Servais found out he got fired for Jerry's mistakes. It wasn't from Dipoto or the team. It was from a news alert. It shows a massive lack of professionalism, respect, and class from both Dipoto and the Mariners as a franchise to let that happen.
