i dont get the hate everyone has for him. is he corny, yes. but ill take that over the arrogant cockiness the majority of players have and most cant back it up. he was fun to watch for alot of years so i still support him. dont really care what he did on his other teams and could care less if hes an analyst but i certainly cant bring myself to hate the guy.

The hate is strong word, but a person that acts like he is a Godly man, goes to Hospitals, etc and then tries to undermine the coaching staff and GM to get them fired so he can have his limelight as he see's it is a disengenuos piece of crap. Every camera appearence, interview an act for his image and brand.

He doesn't deserve hate as that's way too strong of a word, at least in my book. To hate a person means that you wish that they were dead, and I reserve that sentiment for truly evil people, like rapists and murderers.

But he does deserve a loss of respect. The man lied to his fans, tried to get the head coach and GM largely responsible for his success fired. While I don't participate in the mockery, I don't feel sorry for him and won't defend him unless it goes over a certain line, and I haven't seen it approach that in this thread.

Begging your pardon, I don't do idol worship where the idol can do no wrong. Anyone is subject to objective evaluations, at the job, with the gf or wife, etc. Football players are not exempt.

Reportedly finalizing the CBS deal. We had better not do that one-day contract thing. He wanted out, he got out.

Oddly enough, I think he would’ve done more for his Hall of Fame chances if he had retired in 2022 instead of signing with the Broncos.

In 2022, in Wilson's mind, he was on track for a MVP season, the dawn of a Wilson dynasty that would result in ownership.

I'll bet Russ is mad that Myles Garrett usurped his big news.

Probably the correct move for him right now. Competing to be Geno's backup wouldn't have made any sense. Knowing that you can't earn the starting spot is a psychological blow, and because of vet minimum he was also in a position where he could be the 2nd best QB on the team and still not make the team due to higher salary and having no upside. By the time he would get cut it would also be too late to line up a consistent TV gig.
Resting up and getting experience at his (presumed) next career and waiting for an opportunity mid-season makes the most sense.

Good memories. Most epic miscalculation ever. Remember when he showed up to his first Broncos training camp driving that orange tank?

I love what he did with the hawks and how he mostly represented the organization.

I think he always had that little something off in his mentality that only got worse as he got more successful and more insulated

He lost his mental coach as well, which I think helped him - the fact he had all these components and pieces in his team was probably an indicator that he was operating on a shaky platform

Somewhere the conversation turned from the team to team Russ

I didn't like how he'd this his line under the bus, openly wish for more offensive minded coaching and praising guys like Sean Payton and having so much dialogue about his legacy

He moved from just being happy to lead a team to great things, to needing it to happen in a way that showed his value and built his resume - he was insecure and listened to the noise and bought into it

After his mini-coup didn't work, he forced his way out and got absolutely everything he wanted

The whole deal

Then quickly learned how good he had it in Seattle and how no other fan base would be more supportive

There is a big difference from coming in as a plucky 3rd round pick that earned a starting gig and led a team to its first championship and having a team trade a fair amount of assets for you, give you a giant contact and have you come into a city where they've watched a pair of HOF QBs win titles with a media and fan base that has expectations and will not be forgiving

He got everything he wanted and lost everything he had

It's a sad way to go out, but he did it and Seattle ended up better for it in the long term

Denver ended up better for letting him go as well

The Giants found a young talented QB to take a risk on and the Steelers figured if they want to go the old QB route, they might as well get one that has won an MVP

Raiders would rather have Geno, which cost Pete a job again and the Jets went for Geno ahead of him as well

Even referring to this as a pause to his playing career is sad.

Should find that preseason game against KC when he won the job and remember all that excitement and promise

Appreciate all he did for the Seahawks but its going to make time to make amends with the fans and organization. Eventually they probably will, Steve Hutchison did for example. It will take work on his end though.

Glad for all he did for us and loved him as our QB until nearly the end, but man, I don't want his corny aw shucks style forced into my ears during any live NFL games.

I'm not recalling many examples of that. Typically those guys stay on the studio thing unless they get fired. Pretty cush gig.

Wilson never says anything edgy, he will sit and smile, he is doing a players perspective analysis, hmmm he was in his own suite with open door policy if you made an appointment. How is he going to do this.
