Wednesday football is coming. It makes a ton of sense. It'll make a ton of money. The sooner the better as far as i'm concerned.

Seems like the NFL is shooting for a Game of the Day format with a game every day of the week. Nothing like over saturation if there is money to be made.

Goodell's quest for instant fan gratification and over saturation of NFL games is going to backfire.
Fan's need to have periodic breaks to take in the weeks developments and for the anticipation & build up for next week's game(s).
Not everyone's spouse will be OK with their beer-farting husband watching football five days a week for half the year. And I doubt many want Christmas to fall on November 25, December 25 and January 25 every year.

Richard Sherman: "I almost didn't realize that because they've been talking about player safety so much. It's like two games in five days doesn't seem like you care about player safety. It's a little bit much for me."

I think the NFL has lost respect over the years. There are multiple reasons for that rather than just 1 reason. Those reasons include the multiple changes in playing rules, changes to the playoff structure, the diversity in tv/streaming options, the cost of buying tickets, the NFL's historical position in relation to safety concerns, games being played overseas, and of course the introduction of TNF.
Overall the quality of TNF games hasn't matched the quality of other games. This is mostly because player recovery time and game preparation time are inevitably reduced. The introduction of a Wednesday Night game is significant because it finally allows for team to have a bye-week prior to a mid-week game. Effectively teams will have a 10-day entry into WNF and an 11-day exit into the next Sunday game. I believe this principle will be expanded for TNF with an 11-day entry and 10-day exit. I believe this is beneficial over having a 14-day period between games at a random point during the season.
I believe the NFL will extend the season by 1 week to have 17 games over 19 weeks. This will result in all teams having 2 mid-week games each season. That extra week would create an additional 5 games for TNF, Sunday 13:00, Sunday 16:25, SNF, and MNF. Additionally there could be 15 or 16 WNF games. It's a huge amount of potential extra revenue without increasing the number of games or reducing player safety.
I wouldn't expect such a change to be immediately popular. Almost every change in the NFL has been resisted, at least initially.
If I were the owner/coach of a team, I would use all backups and give my starters 10 days off. Get 2 or more teams to do that, and the Sunday-Monday games will be the only way to go. Same with flying to Australia, what a stupid idea. Like London games or Mexican.
Thursday day night makes a reported $1Bill annually. Compared to $2.7 billion on Mondays and $2nillion on Sundays night football. I doubt Wednesday even makes half of what Thursdays make.

Absolutely ridiculous. It's also quite incomprehensible in Australia that any NFL games are played on Christmas Day.

I'm merely saying what I think the NFL is looking to do and I also think it's a good idea. If it doesn't happen or the NFL is looking to do something else then i'd also be ok with that. If the NFL could make an extra $400M+ just by altering the dates of 15 or 16 games then they'd be crazy not to do it. I also understand people not wanting change.

Along with extending the regular season, more games on more days will make them more money but eventually this reaches a point where we start feeling the same way about a random NFL game that we do about a random MLB or NBA game.
