Thirty one other teams will be in the Arch Manning sweepstakes, I guess we will just have to take what John can find us.

Sorry for length, but 2 points:

Google says MN had 15 picks one year so 11 is a haul, but not unprecedented. I bet there's a bell-curve relationship with # of picks and how those picks perform longterm. It's just harder to help/coach 12 rookies as opposed to 5. Of course you double your chances of hitting that perfect combination of skills/attitude with more picks..

I think JS used to value the number of picks more highly than he does now with experience. Of course it's a Classic Conditioning/Pavlovian habit but I think he's more confident in himself and his staff than he was 10 years ago. That allows him to take one player higher instead of 2 lower to play-the-odds or hedge-your-bet.

My (not very controversial) prediction is the '26 Seahawks make a deep playoff run, have some weak spots become evident during the season, and lose a few pieces in free agency. I bet that large amount of draft capital turns into several fewer picks in earlier rounds to address specific holes instead of 11 BPA picks and let competition sort out the rest.

However, one aspect no one has discussed is the draft trade market. In this draft, JS tried to trade back. There seemed to be an apprehension to trade with JS by other GMs, especially early. They were willing to give up more draft capital to jump in front of the Seahawks instead giving JS another pick. JS assembled a SB winning team twice. He (recently) traded RCW, DK, Geno and got value when most questioned the choices initially. Whether a GM just wants to avoid being on the bad side of a trade or they don't want to be a part of "helping" strengthen a team that's already top-of-the-heap, there was obviously (to me) an effort to trade with other partners and avoid the Seahawks this year in the draft. Other GMs may continue to avoid JSs trades to limit his advantage of experience/confidence/culture. Time will tell. JS may be required to alter his "pitch" to other teams or have another staff member be the front-man for trades altogether if other GMs just feel out-classed trading with him.

...it's hard to be the best.

This year could change; it always does. But I'm not convinced Arch is the best QB coming out next year. Off the top of my head, I think Dante Moore is a better QB right now. That's why they play the games though.

I think he has a ways to go but I'm not as familiar with him. He has A LOT of potential though. What will be nice is a good number of QB's should go high like a couple years ago pushing better defensive players down the board for us. Just like getting Byron Murphy at 16 when in a normal year he was likely top 10.

I think it's hilarious that the Rams took Simpson and the Cardinals drafted Carson Beck a year before the 27' QB class.
Next year John will have buy a dozen new Seahawk hats to have enough to hang on this draft.

As it stands now:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7 (11 picks)

Hell of a year to have 11 picks, as it will be a relatively strong draft.

And if another team decides to hire Aden Durde as head coach in 2027, Seattle will be awarded another three picks.

Either way, this is pretty damn nice.
And that's before he could trade back to pick up more picks. Doubt he will with that many already, probably move up but it's a possibility. We are in a good position.

So much ammo to move up into the 3rd or 4th next year if they want to. Plus, we got our beast RG for a 2027 4th round comp pick. So worth it, imo.

I wouldn't mind them flipping the script on that and move a little capital from 2027 into 2028. That way they keep a steady pipeline. It also depends on what their comp picks look like in 2028, though.

With 11 picks currently next year, a deep roster and so few holes. We would most likely trade up to get more quality over quantity
