He could have by simply retiring, he's washed but chose to chase money instead.

What money? His huge $4M contract which makes him the 54th highest paid WR?

I don't get your take. The Seahawks wanted to move on and Lockett wanted to continue to play. There's nothing more than that and there's nothing wrong with that, from either side.

MVS is trash, but I'm ok with neither this year. Lockett will probably finish the season with something like 30/350/2 and retire immediately after.

Yup. Just because the Hawks didnt wsnt him doesnt mean he shoukd stop playing. And just because he wants to keep playing, doesnt mean he should play the league minimum.

And i think the dude can be productive in a system that knows how to use him.

Grubb was an idiot, completely content to allow the passing game to run through one wr while the others played decoy or were rarely used. Lock can still play. He basically had a year off in 2024.

The same could be said by Rams fans about Kupp.

The reality is... long time fixtures like Tyler and Copper on teams that cut them in the twilight of their career are ready and eager to show their team that they're making a mistake. It isn't about the money at all.

This. Plus, maybe the dudes just really enjoy playing football in the NFL.

To me this is sad news. I had hoped he might re-up with the team after the draft.
I will miss this players pure clutch ability. To me he’s forever a Seahawk.

You may be right, but I don't see it not being for money.

Nobody was going to pay a washed WR more.

At best he'd be WR4 in Seattle now. It's a shame he didn't sign a deal to stay with the Seahawks but at $13M last year he emptied his 'good will' account. There's an argument to say he'd be better value at $4M + incentives than Kupp will be at $17.5M, but the deals have been done.

He would have done really well with one of the Florida teams.

Maybe. But I have a feeling that between the production and leadership Kupp will bring he will earn his contract and be worth it.

You can move a step up the Seahawks' WR "depth" chart and still be right.

Lockett right now, but with both hands severely broken, would be better than MVS, who is getting $4M. Lockett at $4M would be better than MVS at whatever the league-minimum salary is. Lockett for $4M is a much better deal than MVS for $4M.

MVS has only had two seasons in his career as valuable as Lockett's weak-for-him 2024, and the most recent one was in 2022. MVS's only season as valuable as Lockett's 2023 was all the way back in 2019. Lockett has had nine seasons better than MVS's second-best season and eight better than MVS's best season. Lockett is two years older, but MVS sucks, so Lockett is still way better.
THIS!!!!

You guys need to look at things from their perspective, no competitive athlete wants to be told they no longer are good enough. They may have to change roles but feel they can still play and be effective. If they love the game it's very hard for them to simply walk away or be told to.

The only surprise was the Raiders didn't sign him, they got cap space, Pete and Geno; it sounded like the natural landing spot.

I supervise some 32 year olds and wish they would retire. They're washed!
But what do I know, they want to chase money.
Some of them have the audacity to want to stick around another 33 years.
