The NFL is just plain greedy gross now when it comes when it comes to their most loyal fans here in the US of A. You know, the fans that actually have an emotional investment in their teams and a pure love of the sport beyond all the sideshows. Sports have always been kind of an escape for people, a way to take a little vacation from your normal everyday concerns and become vicariously involved in some drama that really has no bearing on the actual events and concerns of your life, but nonetheless provided them with a little joy and forgetfulness.

It's been said that religion is the opiate of the masses, but I think sports have supplanted that to a considerable degree. The NFL is the most highly rated and watched form of entertainment on the boob tube today, and by a good margin.

And that's just it. The NFL powers that be know that. They know how addicted we are to it, and they take advantage of that fact, stuff their pockets with it, and milk every last penny they can from their most loyal fans without the least regard for how it once meant to them.

Like so many other things today, sports have become gross, a naked greedfest. And all your left to say is that's just the way it is, and there's nothing to be done about it.
