    Scott servais has a job

He’s a special assistant in player development-not a member of the official coaching staff. https://www.si.com/mlb/padres/san-diego-padres-news/padres-hire-former-mariners-longtime-manager-in-surprise-move-01jhkqkyf80f

How culpable is GM John Schneider?

I don’t see how one can objectively state the Adams fiasco was “all Pete”—what evidence do you have of that claim that absolves JS? Do you folks really believe Pete was the one negotiating the contract and trade deals? This all hearkens back to Schneider’s earlier high profile trades for...

    MacDonald riding with Geno

I’m not advocating for a long term extension for Geno but wanted to point out that actually there have been several QBs Geno’s age or older who have guided their teams to a SB: https://www.oldest.org/sports/quarterbacks-in-super-bowl/ Brady, Manning, Elway, Plunkett, and Unitas/Morrall all won...

    Start Sam Howell

From a fan’s perspective, sure we want to see something different-there’s always the curiosity with the unknown. For the coaches and JS’ staff though, they see these guys every day all year and know what their future is with the team. I think Hall was just an emergency QB signing for the tail...

Missing the playoffs with 10 wins

If Goodell and co get their way, why would they stop at 18 games? They’ll get the players union to agree to 20-24 games + eventually. Goodell and the owners would be just giddy with a 4th of July opening weekend bash and have the playoffs go on forever into March. Why CBS would be rolling with...

    Start Sam Howell

What exactly about Howell’s recent performance against Green Bay screams “we definitely want to see more of this!”? And no, 2 practices with the 1’s this week with half the team NIR resting is going to make a huge difference. They likely already know what they have with Howell.

    Abe Lucas

I was concerned with that degenerative condition he might never come back. So thrilled he is. His play was so immediately noticeable. Once ge fets more in game shape and builds up his stamina, he’s going to improve even more.

The Athletic: Geno knocking on the door of stardom

I think that’s an honest and accurate description. Let me ask you this though, is that really a bad thing in the present? While we all would yearn for the next top 5 guy, what are the odds we’re actually going to find one in the near future? I’m not necessarily advocating a long extension as...

The Athletic: Geno knocking on the door of stardom

That’s a fair assessment but it’s those elite traits that are still exciting sometimes and bring promise. It’s like a 100 mph pitcher who gets the yips occasionally and can’t hit the zone-there’s still hope even at 34 he could put it all together at some point.

Offseason thread if you still have a soul

Agreed. This organization will never sniff a pennant until Stanton dies and his ownership group is dissolved and forced to sell—because John Frigging Stanton will clearly never sell his business (not a team-a business venture with one of the most profitable organizations the last few years). Nor...

Sanchez on Spoon: "One of the best..."

An intangible the kid brings is that nonstop energy and enthusiasm for the game. It serves him well, gets his teammates hyped up and is contagious. His pure athleticism and ability to turn on a dime is so fun to watch. Just wait for year 3 and 4 out of him!

Bring Jon Gruden in for OC

Play action please under center! How about a QB sneak more than once every 11 games? Bootlegs, rollouts, sprintout RPO? Pass play when Bobo is in the game in short yardage please-the defense knows what’s coming! Less toss sweeps to the short side of the field and stop thinking Charbs is Carson...

    Destined to fail?

A key issue that Grubb needs to immediately improve upon is short yardage. Way too much Charbs up the gut for no gain or a loss. Also because Grubb evidently refuses play action when Geno’s under center in short yardage (especially in the I) teams know it’s a run, stack the box and stuff the RB...

    Overall Evaluation So Far

These last couple weeks have shown “hope” and I for one am excited to see how the season unfolds down the stretch. There seems to be a different vibe-you can see it on the sidelines. They’re starting to play together as a team—much better run fits on D and the secondary is attacking. Ball hawks...

    Geno comparative stats this season

Something to keep in mind though- Only Wash and Phil have a higher % of TDs by run than Sea and obviously Hurts and Daniels are highly regarded. We are 16th in total TDs (including 13 rush TDs and 12 pass) and 2nd in passing offense. https://www.footballdb.com/stats/teamstat.html?group=O&cat=S...
