REPORT(s): Seahawks still interested in Mayfield, Browns willing to eat salary

You pose a lot of good questions regarding why the Browns were so anxious to cut bait with Mayfield, and I'll toss in another one that you didn't mention. The Brown's decision to bring in Watson in what can only be described as an insane cost came about 9 months after they had picked up...

REPORT(s): Seahawks still interested in Mayfield, Browns willing to eat salary

I'm hearing that the Browns are expecting Watson to be suspended for the entire season, so they may decide to hold onto Mayfield at least initially. I can't imagine the Hawks or anyone else trading anything more than a Day 3 draft pick for him even if the Browns were to eat a large portion of...

Week #1: How Will Russ be Received?

Was I pleased with the way Russell handled his departure? No. Do I think that he was disingenuous with his fans about his desire to play here for rest of his career? Yes. However, in a dilemma like this one, I always try to look at the bottom line vs. the most recent individual factors, and...

Watson saw 66 massage therapists in 17 months

Watson has settled out of court 20 of the 24 civil charges against him: Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has reached an agreement to settle 20 of the 24 civil lawsuits that had been filed by women who accused him of sexual assault and harassment. They're planning on taking the...

Pete Carroll the only holdout left during Super Bowl years

IMO this is a more appropriate topic than what is posed in the OP. Barring some unusual circumstance, Pete is our coach for the 2022 season, so there's not much point in debating the merits of him continuing in that job. To answer the question, I would rather have a situation where we are...

Wilson wanted to go to a city that "Wants to Win"

Yeah, I hear ya about Russell's tendency to talk in cliches, as was his penchant for saying what ever those around him wanted to hear. 10 years of listening to him putting lipstick on every pig on the farm really got old. But that's not what's so bothersome. It's these vile, personal...

Wilson wanted to go to a city that "Wants to Win"

Actually, since we stand to benefit greatly if the Broncos tank this season, Russell's on field performance is an appropriate topic for the entire year. But I do think that all this complaining about is personal flaws and the way things ended is what a lot of us are getting weary of. The way...

Pete Carroll the only holdout left during Super Bowl years

The window in which teams generally fire head coaches, ie December-January, has come and gone. Love him or hate him, Pete is our HC for the 2022 season. Last season starting in early December when it became apparent that we weren't making the playoffs, that the Adams trade was going poorly...

Watson saw 66 massage therapists in 17 months

Yeah, they've structured it so that most of Watson's $45M is in signing bonuses, which aren't subject to suspension. He's only getting a salary of $1M this season, so worst case if he gets suspended for the entire season, that's all he loses is the salary. It's obscene, IMO.

I agree. Worthlessburger received a 4 game suspension for two allegations, neither one of which was ever proven.

Watson saw 66 massage therapists in 17 months

That's not true. I think you're off by a year: On March 16, 2021 Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee filed a civil suit on behalf of a massage therapist who alleges that Watson sexually assaulted her during a session in March of 2020. The suit states that Watson touched the woman with his penis before...

Watson saw 66 massage therapists in 17 months

I'm just speculating, but in cases like these, nearly all the evidence is testimony from eyewitnesses, ie the girls, and given the character of those testifying against him, it would be very difficult for the prosecution to get a conviction. Many of the witnesses would end up taking the 5th...

Could Drew Lock be the next Drew Brees?

I'm hoping for that result, too. But I'm not 'holding my breath.'

Guilty of sexual harassment and/or sexual assault: The specific accusations are wide-ranging but include descriptions of him exposing himself without consent, forcing women into sexual acts and making veiled threats. There are 23 such charges against him. IMO they can't all be meritless.

Could Drew Lock be the next Drew Brees?

All I'm doing is assessing the different possible outcomes. I have not seen Drew Lock play in a live football game. I'm basing my opinion of his odds of success on is his statistical record and that of past QB's in a similar predicament. I'm always hopeful that any player of ours will work...
