Apparently, this is the only way the M's will stop putting him in the starting lineup or putting him in to pinch hit in important situations. So I'll say it, poor taste be damned.

Good.

Last 12 games with Ref: 2.2 runs/game.
4 games since: 5.5 runs/game.

.......

Yeah it's a BS data point but I'm putting it out there anyway.

Remember, Dan actually BELIEVED that he was a good player and that he somehow would turn it around.
He CHOSE to keep putting him out there.

Not sure what other evidence is needed to show his level of cluelessness.

I don’t think that necessarily true. Dipoto meets with Dan before every game and tells him who to play, and when to play them. Dan is just a puppet. We need a real manager

With Refsnyder's colossal ineptitude as a Mariner, MLB should allow for automatic strike-outs the same way they instituted intentional walks (without any actual pitches needed) a few years ago. Save us the trouble and don't even bother pitching to the guy, everyone knows he's a guaranteed strike-out.

8 batters and three outs (minimum) to start the game

Good.
He was consistently really good/great for multiple seasons, and it seemed like a smart signing.
We should be more upset that it took this long. If someone is hurt enough that their performance drops big time, you put them on the IL. You let them focus on healing with the team's doctors and trainers. They waited way too long, and now the Ms are in a spot where instead of being able to use him as part of a trade they would be more likely to just release him.
The Ms played this about as poorly as they could, ensuring the worst results.

At this point cal needs to go back to the il as well
A couple things.

1. Everyone and their grandmother should've understood that last season was likely going to be significantly better than any other season Cal ever plays, so a big dropoff from last year should've been 100% expected.
2. Everyone on the team who played in the Classic suffered a slump. Those players chose the Classic over the Mariners, and now the Mariners are paying the price. In the future, the Ms should put a lot of pressure on players to not play, and they should even avoid signing or trading for players who are likely to want to play in the Classic.

Could anyone imagine NFL teams letting their players play real football games for anyone but their team?

Yep, he had a past of being pretty productive. But knowing when its WAY past time is not something Dan is good at.
And I'm not buying all the excuses claiming that most of the decisions are not from him.

Excuses for piss poor managing. His jam.

I hope Refsynder is on the 60 day DL. Then my next hope is that Jerry Dipoto is given his pink slip. If there is a baseball God, make it so.

Yeah, somebody dropped the ball on Refsnyder. If his knees were that bad, how did he pass a physical? I get the whole "playing hurt" thing, but when a guy is actually hurting the team something has to happen. Some of that is up to the player. Every player will say, "Put me in coach, I'm fine." Players need to stop saying that and coaches/managers/management need to monitor their health.

You could say similar things about Donovan. After a core injury, it can be difficult to fully rehab. He was signed and he's spending nearly half the season on IL. Hope he comes back, because when active he actually produced, unlike Ref. So far, though, it wasn't a very productive signing.
