On the plus side of taking a rb in first round moneyballwise is we can get a 5th year option on him. RB's are invaluable yet quite expensive to resign so I can see the value in getting a guy for 5 years and letting them move on.

They absolutely did try. John said they had a few things lined up. Then the 4 or 5 spots above them, teams traded up.
