I haven't this pissed in a long time. Excuses won't change facts. Pathetic excuse of an offense tonight. Against a team throwing a bullpen day. Wtf????

Sure hope the Seahawks don't pull a Mariners tomorrow.....
Well if the M’s disappoint us, we can still use our famous phrase….Well at least we have the Seahawks to look forward to.

The difference is we might be staying it a month or two later than usual.

I think the goal tomorrow is simple.

We know Detroit isn’t going to light it up offensively. Can Castillo keep them to one or two runs in 5+ innings. Ideally he can go further as the pen is depleted. Our lineup needs to make Skubal work. He will be on 4 days rest, get his pitch count up, and make this game come down to the bullpens. Ideally we get to their pen by the 7th inning.

Wow.

I thought Suarez and Candzone had really bad AB’s. Naylor and Polanco hit the ball hard. But need everyone to show up.
Suarez leaving his bat on his shoulders when down two strikes with a pitch in the zone the entire way was beyond frustrating. Canzone just ehh all night. Yet the one hit the Tigers scored on shouldn’t have even happened with complete strike 3 pitch prior.

The Mariners had multiple innings to score one run, the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th 11th but failed to do so. I'll say it again, the key bad at bat was Naylor in the 6th inning. Arozarena walks; Cal singles; Julio singles, Cal to 2nd, Arozarena scores. Men on first and second and nobody out; Naylor grounds out into a double play; Cal to third; next batter out.

We only get one run there. I thought to myself at the time that that might have cost us the game. We get one more run there we would have won the game. That was the key bad moment for us, IMO. And it was normally clutch Naylor who came up short and did the one thing you didn't want there, hit into a DP.

I’d also say, Julio absolutely cannot get tagged out there. Just stop running to avoid the double play.

Also think we got out managed today.

Not sure if it was smart for Kirby to pitch to Carpenter a third time. He already had four HR’s off Kirby in only ten AB’s.

You can also question Dan on whether he should have walked McKinstry to set up the double play on Baez.

Also should he have stretched out more innings from Ferguson, Bazardo and Brash? Once it got to extras it was down to Hancock, Miller and Vargas, not great options. But also this is where we needed Woo to be healthy, because I think if he was, we would have seen Kirby as a long reliever in the pen.

Man that one hurt. Hopefully we can somehow bounce back tomorrow. Team approach at the plate was awful. Way to many 0-2 counts. Too aggressive swinging for the fences every swing. Need to work the count a bit.

Umps killed us a couple times, but when only 2 players get hits, you rarely are gonna win. Again, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th. 4 f,$;;# chances to score ONE FRICKEN RUN. 4 CHANCES.
I don’t think the Umps sucked. Were there horrible calls at the plate all game? Yes but they went both ways equally. Could’ve been a hell of a lot better but at least it was consistent both ways. I had no problem with it at the end of the day

Agreed. That double play was on Julio. All he had to do was stop. The announcers said just lay down, make Baez make a decision to prevent the double play. It’s the little things that kill this team. That’s why I never bought the hype this is a WS team. Can’t live or die by the long ball when you face good offenses, it’s not sustainable. Especially when people can’t get on base at all. We are lacking about 3 higher on base guys. I’d take that over power any day.

They've gone into detail about that, and stated HR power is what wins games.. why? Pitching is so good at this level that it's difficult to string together multiple base hits together to get one run. Our problem is we have a home run team, better than most teams out there but, our stadium is not designed for our team. M's hit quite a few long balls that never left the field yesterday.

We had a couple of bad calls, walking Carpenter, who only hits Homers off of Kirby, the DP mistake by Julio(who now, probably understands). Aside from that, we probably would have won the game.

This is groundhog day all over again, which I realize is redundant, but...it's why I've been resistant to even watch the M's, because whenever I get my hopes up, they have always disappointed. Please M's, please be the team that finally shows up when it matters most. Today is must win. Today matters most. Go M's!!

Julio running into the double play instead of just stopping was BRUTAL! We win the game on a sac fly by Polonco if Julio avoids the DP. I knew that was going to be the difference.
