Anyone who bothers to watch GMFB (I only do because it’s like my morning cup of coffee) knows Kyle Brandt has toted it for years; Week 1 is a liar. He’s quite adamant about it and has plenty of evidence to support his case.

We saw some positives yesterday and sadly too many negatives. So where do you stand? Do you agree that you can’t get too high or too low on your team based on how they looked in Week 1?

I saw a lot of positives yesterday. Our defense is going to crush and expect it to be T10 maybe T5. The offense will take a few weeks to gel - Darnold has to find another receiver to trust because teams are going to start clamping down on JSN. Need Horton and Arroyo to get involved on play action…. I think Charbonnet is on a fast track to the lead back duties and I think we correct a lot in Week 2 creating our identity on offense which was not defined in Week 1.

I love the Seahawks as a +3 dog this week in Pittsburgh whose defense appears to have plenty of issues themselves after Week 1.

Pound the rock. Downhill zone running with play actions off of that this week and stick to the formula we are supposed to be.

Good stuff. And I was in Alki Saturday and thought you would dig this…

@12thManInTheBox We grew up with those guys. Played in the same music rehearsal spaces. Good dudes. Layne was a nice guy. Really sucks that he got caught up in the brownstone. I had a two hour convo with their drummer one time at a party, lecturing him about taking the music more seriously. They ended up being famous and we didn’t. So there you go. LOL

And if they won yesterday, none of this would’ve been mentioned as it would’ve been stated every game is important, especially against a division opponent.

You can dog on them for a bad performance and still have high hopes for the season. Better game 1 then later in the season.
I had the same thought earlier .

This might turn out to be just what they needed. A disappointing loss a giant a divisional rival to bring them back to earth. This should wake them up to the fact that the other guys get paid to win as well.

Now comes time for the reality dick-wich.

When humble pie isn't enough!

I said this exact thing in another thread Sunday night. Even though emotions ran high for the game shortly thereafter I remembered him drilling that into my ears slot last week. Week 1 may or may not have been meaningful, but we don’t truly know that until much later. What we do know is we still control our own destiny and I refuse to give up until we don’t.

I haven’t been this disappointed and distressed after a Week 1 loss in a long time. Yesterday’s loss was a major gut punch.

This team is flat out bad. Outside of Leonard Williams and Ernest Jones, our defense is filled with holes. The offense is even worse.

I’m very depressed with other issues in life, and football is supposed to be a form of escape entertainment, but man…this team didn’t help at all.

Yeah, Game 1 sucked, but that does not a failed season make. I remember a few years ago, the Bills beat the Patsies 33-0 or someting like that in game 1 of the season. NE won a Super Bowl that year.

Game 1 gives them film to see what they need to work on. 🤷‍♂️

I'm not jumping off a cliff. I think it's likely we lose next week against Pitt, and I still wouldn't be, though we better not lay a big ugly egg. Our offense is going to be a work in progress at least till the bye week. It's a long season, a lot can happen, and I'm not counting us out for one of the bottom rung playoff spots after the first few weeks of the season.

That’s massive hyperbole after Week 1. Do they have work to do? Absolutely. Was this a game they should have won? Absolutely. Did we miss a golden statement, tone-setting opportunity? No question.

But to say they are a bad team is just your emotions talking after a disappointing loss.

You can run that sentiment out to week 2 as well. Seen plenty of teams over the years get a little too high on themselves in week 1 only to get smacked around in week 2. Week three is when you start getting an idea of who teams really are.

Same here but what I want to see is Kubiak running the actual scheme he had planned instead of whatever the hell that was this past Sunday.

Well Jerhawk did say he had personal issues and wanted the Seahawks to win so he can feel good and escape from shitty reality (and they failed him in that) so I kind of get why he feels this way.

You are right, however....It's not the end of the world. It's simply Game 1.

Well then, what happens Week 2 then?

Hawks lost an ugly game in Week 2. There is nothing for them to be "high" on so maybe they get it going a game earlier than Week 3?
