How many Seahawks pro bowlers tomorrow?
Tue Dec 25, 2012 11:09 pm
  • The pro bowl rosters will be announced tomorrow and not counting alternates, how many pro bowlers will the Seahawks get. I'm going with 5: Marshawn lynch , Russell okung, max unger, Richard Sherman and earl Thomas. Although I think we won't have anyone playing in the actual game because the players from the two Super Bowl teams don't play in the pro bowl.

  • I think greater than 5 somehow. Maybe add MRob to your list.

The ruling on the appeal comes in on the Thursday, the pro bowl voting already happened and the rosters will be announced tomorrow so Sherman is still eligible for the pro bowl when the rosters are released tomorrow however browner is not eligible for the pro bowl

    INCORRECT (maybe?)

My understanding is the honor would be revoked from any player testing positive for banned substances. But my understanding is not absolute in this case. I acknowledge that.

  • Last year Seattle ended up having 5 pro-bowlers as many of their alternates ended up getting called on. The Pro-bowl is a popularity contest, but here are the players I think deserve consideration:

    Deserving of all-pro:

    Richard Sherman (1st team)
    Marshawn Lynch (2nd team)

    Deserving of pro-bowl:

    Russell Wilson
    Russell Okung
    Max Unger
    Michael Robinson
    Earl Thomas
    Kam Chancellor
    Bobby Wagner

    Ineligible:

    Brandon Browner

    Fringe consideration:

    Chris Clemons
    Brandon Mebane
    KJ Wright
    Jon Ryan

Have no chance but will be better than some guys who will get in:

    Sidney Rice
    Zach Miller
    Steven Hauschka

I think Earl is quite deserving of being an all-pro, at least second team.

  • The other thing about the voting is it largely took place before the Seahawks exploded. I'm not terribly optimistic about having a lot of Pro Bowl representation.
49ers webzone: Win or lose, i hope you injure Sherman. Like a serious career ending injury. I don't want him to get paid.
49ers webzone: noise should not be the overwhelming reason a team is favored. they need to spray noise-damping foam onto the ceiling of that place.

  • Okung, Lynch, Sherman, Thomas will get in IMO.

Unger probably won't but should be there.

When all the injuries etc play out, Mike Rob, Kam, Browner and Wagner might be there too.

Unlike last year he actually got burned/fooled a few times in support of deep throws (Wes Welker, Titus Young, etc), and he hasn't really put up all-pro stats. He's really valuable on an elite defense, but if he was all-pro it would be a reputation pick. Not that I would complain. Safety is often a reputation pick.

  • Everything about the Pro Bowl is retarded, and it's a shame
that the number of Pro Bowl appearances a player has has
such a big impact on his chance of entry to the HOF.
Voting should start the day after the season ends and
should run for one month and then the teams would be
announced at the Superbowl. The game could then be
played a week or two later or maybe even before the
start of the following season (instead of the Hall of Fame
    game perhaps).
I would scrap the fan vote as well so it's less of a popularity
contest, every year a dozen or so players get in on reputations
forged in previous seasons and it makes the whole process
    a joke.

Indeed, but what safety in the league hasn't been burned a few times this season?

  • Lynch is a shoo-in. Ditto Sherman. Beyond that it's a crapshoot. I'll go with Okung & MRob getting in too because someone has to open the holes for the Beast. I'll say that's it, though others are deserving, e.g. Wright, Unger, Wilson.

Why not? ET has had a solid year and he'll get the players/coaches vote. He will be a perennial pro bowler.

  • It has just been announced that both Browner and Sherman didn't make the Probowl because of PEDs. Browner, because he is serving a suspension and Sherman because he is still appealing the supposed positive.

So, if any Hawks make the Probowl, I suspect it will be one or all of these; Okung, Lynch, Robinson, Unger, Thomas.

I just read a quote here on .net from Albert Breer that Sherman not being named to the probowl had nothing to do with his suspension appeal, he just was not voted in.

  • You mean how many make it as starters or go and play even if they were the alt?

As starters it'll be Okung, Lynch and Thomas

    Voted as alt.

    Sherman
    Wagner
    Clemons
    M Rob
    Wright

    Who goes and plays.
    NONE

We'll be preppeing for the superbowl against the Broncos. Don't need our key players getting hurt

I htink it was Jordan, Payton and Malone that conspired to keep Bryant off of the Olympic team. Perhaps Brady and Rodgers had their hands in this. LOL...as I said in another thread, this is great news. The Pro-bowl is a joke and Okung and co. should sit it out in protest.

  • OK, OK....I'm going to make this as clear as I can. The Pro Bowl game is a joke! Last year, it was being discussed that they should do away with the game. The Lineman would just stand up and give a slight push to the opponent......what a farce! No one wants to get hurt!!

And frankly...the voting process is seriously flawed. There have been several options at changing the voting, but they are not brought to vote at the League meetings.
