NBA returning to Seattle?
Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:23 pm
  • Back a few home games Detlef Shremph while being interviewed for being 12th man flag raiser stated that there was going to be a team in Seattle for the next season. Is that right? If so :thirishdrinkers: :th2thumbs:

  • Well this has been kept pretty quiet compared to all the talk during the Arena approval process. Like everything else that goes on with the NBA I'll beleive it when I see Stern and his $h!t eating grin saying he has resurrected the Seattle Sonics and that Seattle is a great NBA city.

Its because nationally, the NBA cannot compete with the NFL.

Locally, someone will have a leaked scoop, but Hansen has done an excellent job of controlling this project.

Seattle Kings has a bad ass ring to it though. However, the sports fan in me loves the whole Sonics name too

  • Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
The Maloofs are expected to keep an extremely small percentage of team, but will have no real input or say in franchise, sources say.

    Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
No agreement signed, but one source describes deal as "1st and goal at 1." Maloofs history of changing course late still makes many uneasy.

    Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
The Seattle group's plans, with support of the NBA, is to play two seasons in Key Arena before moving into a new Seattle arena, sources say.

    Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
The deal will sell the Kings for approximately $500 million, with the Seattle group seeking relocation to Key Arena for the 2013-'14 season.

We bought him fair and square. AND, he signed an extension to stay in OKC. He'll not be going anywhere for a long time, if ever.
