Jacksonville traded QB Blaine Gabbert to SF for a 6th round pick, per sources.

Quarterback controversy in three... two... one! Woot woot!

WOW! STEAL! He is way better than Colin Kaepernick.

wow. Remember when Gabbert supposedly was rumored to be the #1 QB that Pete Carroll wanted from that draft?

First they overpay a safety from a terrible defense, now they trade for a QB that would have been cut anyway.

I can't believe they gave up a 6th for him. Conditional 7th at best. Why give up anything at all?

I dunno. All he's got to do is avoid three turnovers in a single quarter of the NFCC to be an improvement over their current QB.

I am usually not too suprised by stuff the Niners do.

A 6th round pick - what are the chances a 6th rounder sticks around? This guy knows the league and is a qb. I think it is a good deal for the 49ers even if they cut him this offseason

couldnt have said it better myself. cant let kaepernick get too comfortable.. he probably thinks he'll be the next 100m dollar QB. as bad as gabbert was, he was arguably in an even worse spot than alex smith was when he was introduced to the niners.. harbaugh work your magic!

For us, yes.

I'm stunned that its Gabbert they went after, but not at all surprised they got a QB. They were unhappy with Colt as a backup. I thought they would draft a guy.

EDIT: Looks like they will rework the contract.

No idea what to think of this. Harbaugh has been pretty good with QBs. They must think there is something there to be saved.
