I remember feeling sorry for how Chad Johnson got booted off the Dolphins on the show Hard Knocks. Not anymore, though.

Humble Pie, wasn't it? Year?... circa 1973?
Just looked it up... it was released in '72.
In '72, I was 23, recently discharged from the Army, in college and letting my hair grow long. Sigh, such a long time ago now.

You're a racist.

True, maybe he shouldn't have patted his lawyer's ass, but who's to say it wasn't a reactionary emotional reaction built from playing football the last 25 years of his life? Sounds like the judge got a little butt-hurt because she felt like people were laughing at her in some way, because she couldn't keep the courtroom in line.
RolandDeschain wrote:He's being a wiseass in court; if he had even a modicum of common sense, he'd keep his mouth shut and act respectfully. He didn't, so the judge decided not to lift his sentence after all. I've got no problem with that.

Looks to me like she did a great job of keeping her courtroom in line once someone did his best to disrupt it.
You guys have to remember that he violated probation for domestic assault. He's on a second chance as it was. THATS what he was sentenced for. He didn't seem to be taking it seriously, acted up in court, and the judge reacted accordingly.

Bah, we all had the same crap happen to us as kids by our parents. You're doing something your parents tell you not to, and you decide to mouth off, and out comes the "That's it - in the timeout chair, NOW!"
He's a child who has yet to grow up, and I am with the judge on this one.

Never happened that way at my house. Mouthing off to a parent was very likely to get your face slapped at the least.
Many now a days think everyone should respect them not the other way around. Especially the ones that are to young to have earned any.
You all had better learn in a court of law the judge's law is supreme and her laws apply not some aged 30, acting 10 year old who thinks the world revolves around them.
therealjohncarlson wrote:This whole thing sounds like a woman going on a power trip because she felt "disrespected" for a ridiculous reason. Theres no reason to even take patting your lawyer on the behind as am insult, and certainly not towards her. It smells like the judge has an inferiority complex. She needs to grow up imo, not Chad.

Anything he gets isn't enough.

I wouldn't have a problem with the sentence if it was about the actual crime, but by all indications he was going to get community service and probation before the butt slap. Also, saying he knocks around his wife is a bit harsh. A headbutt is wrong, but as far as I know it was a one time thing and his wife is crazy. It's not like he has a history of doing bad things other than perhaps showboating in the NFL.
