Maybe a starting point for Wilson.

The team officially announced that they've picked up the fifth-year option on quarterback Andrew Luck's contract. The superstar passer, who is in line to become the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, will now be guaranteed $16.155 million for injury for the 2016 season.

So by the end of the 2016 season, Wilson will probably have earned more money than Andrew Luck has. Funny how that works.

Luck is a better QB than Wilson and should make more money too.

If Luck was drafted by the Hawks he probably would have won two superbowls by now.

But we all know superbowl winning QB's get paid more than they should...

Would there be people saying he was only good because of the defense? Or Lynch?

This debate is tired. Time will tell the story. THe only thing I care about is Wilson good enough to get a 3rd crack at a title. And a 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th. He is. End of story.

That fifth-year option is set by the CBA and isn't negotiated outside of that, so it won't have much bearing on Wilson. Luck would command a lot more if he had any say in the matter, and he'll get a monster deal next off-season to add years to his option.

$16.155M won't be anywhere close to what either of these guys ultimately get.
