Good defenses don't let teams convert 3rd and 14, or 3rd and 20 (with the game on the line).

It's time for Russ and the offense to control games.

imo... were top 5... We are not historical like last year though.

Twice in 5 games offenses have exerted their will against this defense.

Last year 1 in 4 possessions got turned into a turnover.

This year we are not doing that. That is part of the root of the problem.

But this game was lost by the offense.

I didn't want to believe it until now, but I feel like they've definitely taken a step back this year. Not enough pressure on the quarterback, too many dropped interceptions, too many dumb penalties. Overall there's just been a huge drop in big plays and it's absolutely mind boggling considering the personnel is essentially THE SAME this year. If this game doesn't spark the fire in these guys nothing will.

The defense was gashed and gave up the game winning drive, they lost this game just as much as the offense did

We lack a pass rush.. weve lost chemistry or the ability to keep real pass rushers fresh. We lack depth at CB... behind Sherman there isnt much there, and Thomas hasnt made a "great" play yet this year that I recall..the ones where you think "only ET could have done that!".

The offense probably has potential, but they too often run it through Harvin instead of using him as the X factor. I get wanting to get him the ball in space, but you have to choose your moments, not run the offense purely as an attempt to do that. Harvin SHOULD be opening things up deep for the TE by rolling coverage to him and getting LBs sprinting certain directions pre snap when he is in motion..but thats not happening.

Right now we are a decent team, not a great team. I dont know how much the defense can be fixed.. I still theyve over reacted to rule changes. Theyve stopped the press, and got complacent about talent.

What defense are you watching? We may be top 15.

Touché. Losing Big Red, McDonald, and Clem appears to have had an affect on their game-long intensity level.

They didn't let a 3rd and 20 get completed on them with the game on the line

IMO Wagner is the only player on D who has showed up this year. I have seen Kam and ET burnt all year. Someone posted a stat that Kam leads the league in TD's given up.

They didn't? That wasn't apparently an absolutely crucial play? Really?

Question is...... Do we win next week?

At the very least, it's time for the folks that expected this team to be historically good to check themselves.

He was speaking in reference to last year's team not giving up plays like that.

Mediocre is being very kind right now, a mediocre defense would not let a 3rd and 20 to be completed on them in crunch time.

Okung has 5 dead ball fouls in two games. 3 of them (at least) played a big part in killing drives.

I love Kam. So much. But he isn't the same either.

If the coaches don't see themselves faced with tough decisions, I must not know anything about football.
