How often do both the preseason favorites make it?

There was a lot of talk in the preseason about Denver and Seattle being the preseason favorites for the Superbowl.

More recently, there has been a lot of talk about how often the #1 seeds actually make it through.

This year, we have both the preseason favorites, coincidentally both #1 seeds, facing off for the Superbowl.

How often do either or both of these actually happen?

Hard to say because there are so many outlets that provide "preseason favorites".

I can tell you that my preseason favorite has made it 2/37 times.

Going down the list the only thing I recall is the Eagles vs Patriots. Both teams were definitely the favorites to go that year, other than that nothing.

The only time #1 seeds played each other was the saints colts game from 2009. As far as preseason.. Good question. Not very often!
