Short-term IR player can't return to games for eight weeks, I believe.

So, by next week, the short-term designation is basically useless if you haven't already used it. It makes sense to use it on whoever needs it now.

This. Plus, Coyle is not exactly a slouch. ST and good depth LB for us. I still think playoffs, so he could be valuable come January.
